Establishes and maintains a material control program at field level for requisition, receiving, storing and issuing materials, tools, equipment and supplies in a timely manner to meet the contract workload and delivery schedule. Responsible for maintaining material requirements list, inventories, bench stock (expendable items), critical items list, receipt, storage and issue records, coordinates, processes and expedites supply transactions. Determines local and vendor repair capabilities for rebuilding and overhaul of aircraft components and accessories. Determines and forecasts material requirements, and establishes minimum stock levels. Provides liaison with the customer supply activities. Determines methods of storage, identification and stock location, considering temperature, humidity, height and weight limits turnover, floor loading capacities, and required space. Prepares documentation necessary for turn-in or repair of repairable components.

Skill and Knowledge

Shall be proficient performing all operator, data entry, and retrieval functions. Transmits and receives data via floppy disk, modem, and other electronic means. Extracts data, formulates and interprets management reports, creates archives, backups, and data saves in support of deployments and detachment operations.

Responsibility

Perform a wide range of clerical, administrative, and financial duties related to aircraft maintenance, such as preparing reports and correspondence, filing and typing. Perform tool room management IAW Tool Control Program (acting as Tool Control Program Coordinator), Metrology and Calibration (METCAL) Program, Individual Material Readiness List (IMRL) Program Coordinator. Perform Hazardous Material Control and Management Supervisor requirements. Performs requirements in accordance with the procedures established in the PWS. Performs aviation maintenance material control functions in support of the activity’s assigned aircraft, engines, ALSS, support equipment and flight designated personnel.

Qualifications

Must have a minimum of three (3) years experience.

Must have a good working knowledge of Navy supply systems, policies, methods, and technical publications. Must be familiar with manual and mechanical methods of supply administration. Must be certified to perform tasks specified in the L-3 Vertex Aerospace Contract Field Services Standard Operating Procedures Manual, if required to perform those tasks. Candidate must have completed Support Equipment Asset Management (D-555-0026).

Working Conditions

May be exposed to moderate discomforts, such as heat, cold, wind and extremely high noise levels. This position requires normal physical functions. May frequently lift and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with the assistance of other workers. Will be required to comply with safety requirements of the Standard Operating Procedures Manual. May be required to wear personal protective equipment, where applicable.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to work in aircraft hangar environment. Must be able to climb/board aircraft. Must be able to bend, stoop, balance, kneel, crouch, reach, grasp. Must be able to walk for long distances moving from one work site to another. Must be able to work primarily with fingers such as for typing. Must be able to communicate effectively. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Must be able to lift/maneuver up to 50 pounds. Must have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, visual inspection involving small defects or small parts. Must be able to work in extreme heat. Will be subject to noise and hazards such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat. Subject to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation. Must be able to work in narrow aisles or passageways.
