Closing date: 17th September 2017As Safety and Compliance Manager (Aircraft Maintenance LHR) you will ensure safety and compliance of VAA’s line and base maintenance, both in the UK, Regions and Overseas operation through oversight of aircraft maintenance activities. You will identify regulatory and VAA process and procedure breaches by VAA and supplier operatives, ensuring they are corrected in the moment and rectified through on the spot coaching, root cause analysis and long term prevention strategies.
This role is accountable for raising the standard of compliance at through a program of continuous improvement to the point that the operation can withstand the scrutiny of an internal or external audit at any time.
Day to day
Drive a just safety and security culture
Ensure Aircraft maintenance meets and exceeds VAA standards, policies and procedures
Foster an environment of open reporting
Foster a non-blame reporting culture
Engage every level of the Aircraft Maintenance operation in the pursuit of a just safety culture
Work with Corporate Safety in the promotion of safety and compliance to ensure it strengthens at the core of everything we do
Proactively measure safety performance
Ensure quality and quantity of QC
Conduct analysis and Identify trends, identifying and implementing solutions
Correlate QC with GOR’s
Investigate and respond to GOR’s
Lead monthly safety and security meeting
Manage suppliers to VAA safety and compliance standards
Ensure compliance with recency requirements
Ensure training records are current
Ensuring training records are current in every department
Conducting audits on processes
Facilitate audits, investigating and responding to audit findings and observations
Auditing Aircraft maintenance compliance to the latest policies and procedures
Ensuring LOI’s exist and are appropriate
Engaging and influencing Health and Safety policy and strategy
About you
We are looking for a compliance specialist who is a strong leader. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in managing the compliance and health and safety which impacted a large group of people in a potentially dangerous, high pressure and highly regulated environment, and will have a background of effectively dealing with safety and compliance issues.
You will be a role model with an exceptional ability to gain the trust of the wider Aircraft maintenance teams from front line staff to senior managers. You will have excellent working knowledge of the company procedures and risk assessments and would ideally have safety and compliance back ground. Knowledge of CAP 642/748/382 and H&S, DfT and VAA security regulations is essential.
