Duties and Responsibilities
* Meets all of the job summary and qualification requirements of a Quality Control Inspector.
* Manages daily oversight, priorities and training of inspectors.
* Balances hours to workload by managing capacity to demand.
* Performs complex geometric set-ups for validation of all blueprint characteristics on critical application aerospace components in both the in-process and finished condition.
* Read and understand military and OEM aerospace specifications.
* Resolves problems within the department.
* Actively participates in and facilitates performance improvement teams.
* Acts as the primary interface with Purchasing and Contract/Project Management.
* Manage government and prime customer source inspections.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Communication Skills:
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Good communication and problem solving skills for working in a team oriented environment. Ability to write technical documents such as QMS process procedures, work instructions, and forms.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to apply advanced level mathematical concepts such as algebra, statistics, trigonometry and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Ability to type 20 wpm on QWERTY keyboard and 70 kpm on 10-key.
* Knowledge in the manufacture of precision machined parts.
* Ability to read complex mechanical drawings including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and ASME Y14.5.
* General knowledge of drawing/data systems (e.g., drawings, part relationships, product data management) and configuration management principles and processes (e.g., part number control, revision level, naming conventions, product identification numbering systems).
* Ability to use and present information by use of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook or related programs.
* General knowledge of root cause analysis and corrective action of non-conformances to reduce scrap, minimize rework, reduce cost and improve quality to meet all requirements.
* Full understanding of First Article requirements (AS9102) and how to create documents.
* Aerospace structures experience in assembly and inspection.
* Knowledge of inspection tool selection (10:1 rule).
* Working knowledge of inspection tools such as micrometer or calipers.
* Working knowledge of inspection and measurement processes and procedures.
* Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001 or similar quality standard.
Desired Qualifications
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma concepts.
* Ability to use manual CMM to inspect parts.
* Knowledge of the 5S process and how to implement.
* Knowledge of FAR and DFAR requirements.
Physical Demands

* Stand, walk, sit, handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear.
* Lift up to 25 lbs.
* Work near moving mechanical parts in an environment with moderate noise levels.
* Vision Requirements
* Minimum 20/25 corrected
* Pass color vision eye exam
Education Requirements
* High school diploma or GED.
* Five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
* ASQ CQI or CMI certification or equivalent or ability to obtain.
