Job Summary

This position is for a Principal Systems Engineer on the U.S. Army CH-47F platform systems team, responsible for full life-cycle development of the avionics system. This avionics system provides our customer with enhanced capabilities for flight, communications, and mission management, as well as aircraft status information. The platform systems engineering team is the primary interface with the customer and is responsible for overall project execution, including capturing stakeholder needs and then developing, integrating, and testing a product to provide a superior cockpit solution for our customers. The selected candidate will be expected to perform the role of Architect as well as taking on many Release Train Engineer responsibilities and must be comfortable leading in an Agile environment.

The selected candidate should be a self-starter, with the ability to multi-task and manage unplanned events and work well in a team environment to achieve results that exceed expectations. The candidate must be well-organized and able to communicate effectively with engineering peers, leadership, and customers using both verbal and written communication skills. Excellent problem solving, decision making, and teamwork skills are a must. This job will require occasional business travel.

Job Responsibilities

The selected candidate will perform a variety of tasks that help to lead the engineering team through the development of an avionics system. Responsibilities include:

Regular customer interaction to understand their needs and then directing the rest of the engineering team on how to develop system requirements and design accordingly.

Taking the lead on Design Approach Reviews (DARs) that introduce new technologies into the system.

Further the program’s technology roadmap by identifying, detailing, and presenting new potential capabilities to our customer.

Coordinating Agile events and assisting teams with working to identify, prioritize, and resolve issues while helping shape and optimize our engineering processes.

Collaborating with engineers across multiple subsystems (Displays, Flight Management, Communications, Mission, etc.) and contribute toward a positive working environment.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.
