Job Summary

The Collins Aerospace Mission Products team is seeking a highly motivated and talented Electrical Engineer who is prepared to tackle a wide variety of design challenges working within a multi-disciplined team. This position will include design, integration and development of the next generation Strategic Communications, Electronic Warfare and Global Joint Fires solutions spanning airborne, ground, transportable and maritime platforms. The selected candidate will design, develop, document, verify, qualify, troubleshoot and transition electronic hardware of simple to high complexity. They will work closely with a cross-functional support staff to assure defined requirements are consistently met in all phases of a product’s life cycle.

Job Responsibilities

*

Design of military communications and other related products

*

Technically plan, execute, and manage project tasks to meet or exceed programmatic needs

*

Perform autonomously under the direction of the HW Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead, program management, as well as engineering management

*

Create and present task status and technical solutions to team members, engineering leadership, and customers

*

Develop hardware requirements based on product, system level, and customer requirements

*

Design and integration of platform systems rigs, equipment rigs and harnesses with emphasis on installation considerations, lifecycle management and manufacturability

*

Design hardware to meet rigorous military requirements for platform, environment, functionality, cost, and Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP)

*

Apply knowledge of product domain, technology domain, processes, tools, methods, work flow and best practices for hardware development with primary emphasis on electrical designs

*

Early project risk identification, mitigation, and escalation

*

Understands and utilizes appropriate Collins Aerospace processes and tools during product development, resulting in increased product quality and improving customer satisfaction.

*

Utilize strong interaction and interpersonal skills to drive teams to success

*

Work with their team and other team leads to resolve complex issues

*

Provide guidance to other engineers in various disciplines

Basic Qualifications

*

Must possess or have the ability to a obtain a DoD security clearance

*

U.S. Citizenship

*

Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline

*

Multiple years’ experience developing products and systems for military platforms. Direct experience with Military Communications design is a plus

*

Knowledge of design and development processes with practical experience in multiple phases of the HW lifecycle: requirements, design, development, integration, validation/verification, and sustainment

*

Able to investigate problems to the root cause and then champion the creation and implementation of corrective actions

*

Familiarity with EMI and Signal Integrity design techniques and analysis

*

Experience with configuration management tools and processes

*

Proven leadership of small technical teams

*

Capable of leading investigations for open ended complex problems

*

Ability to create appropriate development procedures, conduct effective design reviews and provide technical guidance to other members of development teams

*

Proven experience working with manufacturing teams, vendors and other suppliers to build cost-effective solutions.

*

Experience working with customers to define requirements and identify potential platform installation issues during project design phases.

*

Experience in platform design considerations for such things as RF Antenna co-site interference and electrical interference

*

Experience in signal analysis and validation of signal integrity throughout the target system

A successful candidate may possess the following:

*

Background and/or knowledge of Military Platform Integration

*

Background and/or knowledge in RF Communications, networking, and interface definition

*

Domain expertise in integration of COTS and Custom design hardware, firmware, and software

*

Domain expertise in ruggedized electronics design for MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-461F requirements

*

Factory transition planning and support

*

Working knowledge of bidding and project/task estimation (SEER knowledge helpful)

*

Highly proficient in earned value management techniques and philosophy
