The Role:


Reporting directly to the Head of Planning and Operational Delivery, the OCC manager will be responsible for the safe and efficient management and control of our day-to-day flight program including Flight Watch and Schedule Disruption Recovery while maximising crew roster efficiency and stability in compliance with regulatory requirements. The OCC manager will proactively manage OCC performance, co-ordinating with Crew Planning, Technical planning, CityJet Station managers, LMC Engineering and Commercial Network department, with an eye for maximizing punctuality for our customers. They will forge and enhance a closer, inclusive working relationship with all our Stations, Technical, Commercial, Compliance, Ground Handling Departments, Pilots and Cabin Crew.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Responsible for the Operations Control Centre and ensuring that the co-located departments within the centre work as a cohesive unit.
  • Management and control of the day-to-day flying programme including flight watch, Operations Control and Crew Control, delivering the flight schedule while maximising roster efficiency and stability in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • The proactive and reactive contingency planning during times of disruption to the flight schedule.
  • Defining and implementation of protocols within the Centre (OCC).
  • Responsible and accountable for identifying safety risks in accordance with risk assessment process and ensures that adequate risk mitigation steps are appropriately implemented in order to ascertain safety within the workplace.
  • Implement corrective action plans where non-conformities are identified.
  • Manages a team of Duty Managers, Operations Controllers and Crew Controllers who are responsible for ensuring the flight schedule operates in a safe, timely and efficient manner on a daily basis.
  • Maintain effective communication between the OCC, Crew control and all other company departments and ensuring excellent communications links are established and maintained with all Crew, both Flight Deck and Cabin Crew.
  • Ensuring excellent communication with the crew planning department to ensure maximum efficiency and co-ordination on rosters.
  • Achieve KPI’s and Targets set out under customer ACMI agreements
  • Review schedule performance and delay statistics to identify and recommend adjustments that are operationally and commercially viable to maximise punctuality.
  • Ensure that all staff members are trained by coordinating the OCC initial and recurrent training process and effectively deploy the various rules and regulations that govern flight safety and effective completion of the flight schedule (crew rules, rest requirements, aircraft limitations and airport / airspace restrictions).
  • Monitor OCC staff to ensure goals, standards and targets are set and achieved. Encourage personal development, training and manage the cross functional process.
  • Defining and establishing SOPs, training and duty schedules in accordance with the aviation’s regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and revise the Operations Supervision and Control Procedures Manual (OSCP), Operations Manual Part D (OMD) OCC Training section, and associated Working Instructions (WI’s)
  • Maintain and monitor the day to day integrity of all Operational systems.
  • Ensuring as far as possible that crew roster patterns are adhered to and that published rosters are preformed within legality guidelines.
  • Actively participates in crisis management situations and liaison with ERP.
  • Provide management reports and trend reviews in areas such as sickness, leave, hotel & logistical requirements and costs.
  • Actively manage and seek out alternative revenue streams using spare aircraft capacity.

Qualifications / Skills / Competencies

  • Extensive experience in a Flight operations environment
  • Be in a current OCC supervisory role or have numerous years verified OCC supervisory or OCC management experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of both Operations Control, Crew control and FTL’s
  • Understanding and knowledge of Flight planning
  • Understanding and knowledge of Aircraft performance
  • Knowledge of ACARS an advantage
  • Knowledge of the IOSA auditing process and requirements an advantage
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good working knowledge of aviation computer applications.
  • Excellent organisational skills
