Description

The NEXTT initiative aims to define how technology and advanced processes can deliver needed capacity and enhancements to the entire ground journey for elements that move through the airport. The Technical Architect shall bring expertise to enhance the detailed development of a critical concepts; namely handling of operation data to enable interactive decision making. Reporting to and working closely with the NEXTT Project Lead, the Technical Architect will also contribute to the general advancement of the NEXTT initiative.

Responsibilities

* Participate in proof of concept trials conducted by at least 10 partnering airports/airlines/others which demonstrate the feasibility of NEXTT concepts in order to fully understand the business benefits and process. Use this knowledge to provide input into the project’s cost benefit analysis
* Define, validate and promote global solutions for operational data. Evaluate and address issues regarding data integration
* Drive progress in the appropriate use of automation, robotics, and artificial intelligence across all airport and on-ground activities by establishing and running a cross-domain forum/focus group
* Identify any new standards (or Aviation Industry Data Model developments or other solutions) required to implement the NEXTT concepts, particularly those related to Interactive Decision Making and recommend to the relevant working group (detailed standard development shall be assigned to an existing working group with the relevant governance)
* Conduct a gap analysis of the NEXTT vision statements by 2018; identify areas of inconsistency or omissions
* Engage and coordinate with the virtual NEXTT team (comprising IATA’s subject matter experts from all divisions and geographical areas) to promote integration of projects across disciplines and further evolution of the NEXTT vision
* Integrate NEXTT concepts within IATA’s Airport Development Reference Manual through a review in 2018 of the drafted 11th edition, Subsequently create new content for future editions or supplementary material
* Be an advocate and prime contact point for the NEXTT initiative as part of a lean dedicated team
* Participate in all aspects of the NEXTT program including presentation at events and other promotional activities

Qualifications and Skills

* University degree and a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in a relevant area;
* Knowledge of programming, advanced data management and data analytics is preferred
* Demonstrated expertise of data exchanges between different organizations/companies
* Understanding of existing airline and/or airport data messaging and processes for decisions making
* An appreciation of airport operational environments including passenger, baggage, cargo and aircraft turnaround processes
* Ability and passion to swiftly learn about complex technical aspects of the aviation industry
* Interpersonal skills and the ability to manage and quickly build collaborative relationships with multiple and diverse stakeholders
* General interest in innovation and technology
* Highly motivated with the ability to work independently
* Familiar with all MS Office packages and user of tools for collaborative working
* Excellent verbal and written English to communicate complex ideas to any given audience; Knowledge of other languages is an asset
