Morson International are currently recruiting a Non-Destructive Inspections technician for our client based in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

Performing technical Non Destructive Inspection functions:

  • Selecting and performing technical Non Destructive Inspections by examination of material parts, components and pressurised system of missiles, aircraft and support equipment.
  • Operating and utilising ultraviolet, liquid penetrants, eddy currents, magnetic particles, radiographic, optical and ultrasonic equipment and techniques for observing, measuring and detecting discontinuities, flaws and other defects such as inclusions, voids, blow holes, seams and laps that are not apparent by orthodox visual methods. The job holder is also responsible for evaluating the physical state of materials such as sorting metals according to alloys, tempers, conductivity, and other metallurgical factors. This also includes sorting them by surface or subsurface discontinuities, flaws, or defects in substances, relative depth of flaws and integrity of pressurised systems as well as measuring the thickness of the materials.
  • Performing bonding tests.
  • Operating and performing operator maintenance on Non Destructive Tests (NDT) and oil analysis equipment.

Interpreting and evaluating indications of test methods:

  • Interpreting and evaluating tests by analysis of indications such as ultrasonic waves travelling through or by being absorbed by metallic or non-metallic materials to detect discontinuities and the relative depths of discontinuities; variations in electrical characteristics and or energy losses in detecting and measuring depths of the discontinuities or the flaws as well as the visual results of the seepage of the liquid penetrant.
  • Measuring fire and heat damage to nonferrous metals.
  • Identifying by type and the quantity of the wear metals through the debris analysis as part of the EDFC programme.

Inspecting and evaluating Non Destructive Inspection activities:

  • Planning workloads, scheduling work assignments and establishing work control standards.
  • Controlling the use of equipment, materials and spaces.
  • Co-ordinating work schedules with other activities.
  • Orienting newly assigned personnel and assigning specific functions and responsibilities.
  • Supervising the performance of Non Destructive Inspection tasks and conducting on-the-job training in Non Destructive Inspection tasks and test methods.
  • Arranging for training facilities equipment and instructors as well as recording training for accomplished individual progress.

RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION

Essential

  • Must be qualified to NDT Level 2 in the following disciplines: Radiographic, Ultrasonic, Eddy Currents, Magnetic Particles and Penetrant Inspections to ASNT (recognised credential for NDT), EN4179 or PCN (Personal Certification for NDT) certifications.
  • Knowledge of technical orders, regulations, manuals and procedures governing identification of discontinuities and flaws in metallic and non-metallic parts.
  • Must be knowledgeable in the operating and maintaining of Non Destructive Inspection test and oil analysis equipment, radiological safety and operating procedures, safety codes and practices, ferrous and non-ferrous metal characteristics and metal processing principles.
  • Must have undertaken the recognised formal training courses in all NDT disciplines.
  • Must have experience of performing functions in a Non Destructive Inspection shop.
