Position Overview:

Reporting to a Material Manager within the Material Operations Department, the Material Supervisor will be responsible for the direct first-level supervision of unionized Stores Controllers working to provide effective and efficient logistical support to Aerospace production programs.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

1. Coordination of first level Material Management, Inventory Control and Warehouse Operations:

* Work planning, assigning and directing - plan and organize daily tasks & activities of Material department personnel to include the scheduling of overtime and shift work as required;

* Training and orientation of personnel on procedures, processes and associated activity including material handling equipment;

* Material control including receipt, storage, shipping, kitting and issue;

* Working with program coordinators to determine, confirm and action material requirements;

* Liaison at various levels within internal departments including Production, customer representatives and external organizations;

* Inventory stocktaking activity in accordance with cycle count schedule requirements, includes company & customer owned accounts;

* Set, monitor and achieve performance targets to maintain department key performance indicators;

* Monitoring inventory levels to maintain fill rates and to prevent shortages & overage;

* Controlling and processing aircraft repairable components to and from the repair lines;

* Managing company and customer owned assets including inventory and ground support equipment

* Managing customer owned inventory and assets in accordance with the Department of National Defence (DND) Supply System Procedures and Regulations;

2. Other duties:

* Ensuring accurate data input into the company MRP system ( JD Edwards) and customer systems as required;

* Act as liaison for material department, schedule and attend meetings;

* Responsible for the supervision and administrative action pertaining to assigned personnel;

* Ensure appropriate occupational health, safety & environment training is provided and maintained;

* Maintain equitable distribution of resources to meet requirements of workload;

* Responsible to maintain company warehouse locations with respect to general housekeeping, safe working conditions, product identification, packaging, storage, handling and transportation;

* Manage and monitor personnel developmentwithin the Material department, ensuring, in cooperation with Human Resources, the implementation of the Collective Agreement;

* Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

* Minimum Grade twelve diploma (university education preferred) and at least ten (10) years of experience in Logistics and Supply Management including three (3) plus years in a supervisory capacity or a suitable combination of education, training, civil/military experience.

* Knowledge of the Department of National Defence ( DND) Supply System including experience operating the Defence Resource Management Information System (DRMIS).

* Extensive training in the techniques of Inventory Control and experience with material-handling equipment.

* Effective time and people management skills, excellent communication and customer service skills.

* The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated team player with a good working knowledge of MS Office.

* Participate in Continuous Improvement, Lean & 8S activities in your area.
