Here at Northrop Grumman we honor and respect experience. We have a tremendously talented workforce, and that is due in large part to those who are experts in their field. We are looking to add to our team at our Linthicum, Maryland location.

Northrop Grumman Mission is seeking a Materials and Processes Engineer specializing in issues related to polymeric materials used in electronic assemblies. As such, this person is expected to be knowledgeable in formulation, processing and properties of thermosetting materials, such as epoxies, urethanes, silicones, and polyimides. Compositions of interest include adhesives, coatings, and thermal interface materials as applied to electronic assemblies and printed wiring boards.

Duties include: failure analysis, manufacturing support, selection of materials, and preparation of custom formulations.

Typical duties include approximately equal amounts of time in the laboratory and communicating results to customers orally or by written reports. The incumbent is expected to interact directly with customers and work well in small teams.

The Materials and Processes group has excellent facilities and equipment for characterization and testing of metals, polymers, and ceramics. In addition, we have broad capabilities for measuring mechanical, thermal, electrical, magnetic, and compositional properties of materials. Wet chemistry laboratory equipment is also in use for evaluation and custom synthesis as needed. We supply custom ceramic and polymer compositions for internal customers when no commercial material meets performance requirements.
