Overview

2nd SHIFT

APPRENTICE LEVEL: The Mfg Apprentice (SM) is an entry level position that to be utilized as a training role for inexperienced employees hired to learn the Sheet Metal Fabrication function. The goal of the Mfg Apprentice will be to learn to basic Sheet Metal Fabrication to perform Basic SM functions within budgeted time and at "HAECO Americas" standards of quality.
MECHANIC I: The Mfg Mechanic I (SM) performs Sheet Metal Fabrication functions within the Engineering Manufacturing area. Duties include Part Marking, Materials Prep, and Satin Finish Operations to fabricate parts and performing repairs within budgeted time and at HAECO standards of quality.
MECHANIC II: The Mfg Mechanic II (SM) performs Sheet Metal Fabrication functions within the Engineering Manufacturing area. Duties include Mechanic I functions as well as Assembly to fabricate parts and performing repairs within budgeted time and at HAECO standards of quality.
MECHANIC III: The Mfg Mechanic III (SM) performs Sheet Metal Fabrication functions within the Engineering Manufacturing area. Duties include Mechanic II functions as well as Forming to fabricate parts and performing repairs within budgeted time and at HAECO standards of quality.
MECHANIC IV: The Mfg Mechanic IV (SM) performs Sheet Metal Fabrication functions within the Engineering Manufacturing area. Duties include Mechanic III functions as well as Mold Making to fabricate parts and performing repairs within budgeted time and at HAECO standards of quality.

JOB DUTIES
APPRENTICE LEVEL:
1. Perform work as assigned utilizing routine and/or non-routine work cards and/or service bulletins within estimated or budgeted hours and within FAA and HAECO standards of quality with assistance from more experienced mechanics.
2. Perform typical sheet metal fabrication shop operations including below functions/skills:
• Identify metals used for sheet metal fabrication
• Hole preparation for fasteners
• Understand characteristics of metals used in sheet metal parts fabrication
• Develop basic understanding of blueprints and drawings
• Develop layout for parts fabrication
• Calculate shop mathematics to bend and cut sheet metal
• Basic Form metal parts
• Basic Hand Brake Machine form parts
• Basic Hand form parts
• Install and remove fasteners
3. Understand and maintain HAECO and customer aircraft maintenance documentation programs
4. Use and operate safely all appropriate hand tools and other machinery associated with the SM shop
5. With direction of other experienced machinists, assist with performance of maintenance and/or repairs as appropriate
6. Keep own and adjacent work area clean, and perform with other assigned machinist weekly shop clean-up
MECHANIC I:
1. Perform lower level Mechanic duties in addition to following duties
• Demonstrates ability to understand standard engineering blueprints and drawings.
• Demonstrates ability to form trim and seal structural members using aerodynamic smoothing compound.
• Ability to Microshave, counterbore and uses various fasteners such as Hi shear rivets, Cherry Max rivets, Rivnuts, Lockbolts, and Jobolts and composilocs.
• Ability to identify and use various fasteners correctly.
• Demonstrates completion of all PMT Travelers and operations.
2. Perform work as assigned utilizing routine and/or non-routine work cards and/or service bulletins within estimated or budgeted hours and within FAA and HAECO standards of quality with assistance from more experienced fabricator.
3. With direction of other experienced mechanics, assist with performance of maintenance and/or repairs as appropriate.
MECHANIC II:
1. Perform lower level Mechanic duties in addition to following duties
• Ability to read blueprints and assemble simple assemblies using the correct fasteners.
• Demonstrates ability to make simple basic molds and form block to fabricate parts to meet engineering specifications.
• Demonstrates ability to correctly bend using bend radius formulas and power brake tools to meet engineering requirements on simple parts.
• Demonstrates the correct bending radius along with being dimensionally correct to engineering specifications on simple parts.
• Ability to organize and plan with little or no supervision on large assignments.
2. Assist in the development of lower level mechanics
MECHANIC III:
1. Perform lower level Mechanic duties in addition to following duties
• Demonstrates the correct bending radius along with being dimensionally correct to engineering specifications on more complex parts.
• Ability to organize and plan with little or no supervision on large assignments.
• Demonstrates the ability to assemble detail parts to the assembly level with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrates proficiency on reading and understanding of blueprints and drawings to meet engineering requirements.
• Ability to do microshaving and counterboring of sheetmetal and fittings to assemblies.
2. Assist in the development of lower level mechanics
MECHANIC IV:
1. Perform lower level Mechanic duties in addition to following duties
• Design and fabricate molds and form blocks to form metal parts to meet engineering blueprints and requirements.
• Demonstrates proficiency in forming complex shapes and parts to meet engineering specifications.
• Ability to work independently and follow through on large assignments to completion.
• Ability to plan and foresee problems, identify alternative solutions and taking actions to limit bottlenecks.
• Demonstrated ability to organize paperwork, materials, supplies in order to continue the production flow processes.
2. Assist in the development of lower level mechanics

Qualifications

MINIMUM:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Must have own tools as required by company tool list.
3. Must be able to learn to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, repair manuals, etc.
4. Proficient in use of hand tools such as drill motors, screw gun, die grinder and routers.
5. Read, write and understand the English language.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS - BY MECHANIC LEVEL
1. Mechanic I - Minimum of 1 year shop experience in similar environment
2. Mechanic II - Minimum of 2 years shop experience in similar environment
3. Mechanic III and IV - Ability to demonstrate skills listed in above Essential Job Functions
