Reporting to the Regional Vice President the incumbent will be responsible for communication strategy and contributing to managing the external affairs of the Region as well as other special regional projects

Responsibilities

•Contribute to the design of the working plans and the delivery of the objectives of the newly-created Regional Communication department, including work on advocacy and lobbying issues across all divisional and geographical areas in AME and with focus on all related communications issues;

•Study the market in order to consistently develop in-depth knowledge of the industry; be on top of aero-political and industry developments across the region and regularly report on them;

•Prepare a daily summary of important information that is made available to the regional team;
Contribute to the regional communication plan as well as to the designing and planning of the regional external and internal communication strategy;

•Prepare high level correspondence, briefings, presentations, speeches, and press releases on behalf of the Regional Vice President and the regional team as needed, in coordination with the Corporate Communications team when appropriate;

•Advise the RVP with regards to political items and the communication of critical information;
Lead special projects in the region liaising with key stakeholders, with a focus on communication with members, authorities etc;

•Represent IATA and the region in high-level meetings and events as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

Minimum Qualifications

•University degree preferably in Business Administration, Communications, Political Science or International Relations;

•Communications professional with 8 to 10 years of experience in a similar position;

•Experience in an advisory role and providing counsel to senior executives;

•Knowledge of the airline/aviation industry is an asset;

•Ability to work effectively in an international and multicultural environment;

•Proven track record of hands-on approach and strong leadership skills;

•Demonstrated ability to set and meet deadlines, excellent organizational and analytical skills;

•Excellent written and spoken communication skills in both English and Arabic with developed writing, editing and proof reading skills.

• Experience in Social media platforms and social media analytics

Preferred Qualifications

•Advanced degree is an asset e.g. MBA

•Proficiency in regional languages (CEFR B1)
