Job Description

The Manager Maintenance Planning is responsible for coordinating and supporting system-wide conduct of the daily scheduled maintenance operation, which includes the scheduling and efficient planning of both short-range maintenance
work requirements and long-range (greater than 3 months) scheduled maintenance requirements.

This position reports directly to the Director, Maintenance Production and Planning.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Coordinate with Marketing, Dispatch, and SOC for routing and tracking aircraft so as to enable timely accomplishment of required maintenance requirements.

* Identify, develop, and schedule appropriate corrective action plans for critical work requirements, such as open MELs, CDLs, DMIs and repeat discrepancies.

* Participate in building of planned maintenance packages taking into consideration availability of manpower, parts tooling, and aircraft down time.

* Participate in the daily Maintenance Operations meeting providing current status of Heavy Maintenance aircraft and/or modification lines.

* Participate in preparation of budget for Maintenance Planning activities. Monitor performance against budget, and initiate appropriate action in response to deviations.

* Develop the work-scope and initiate pre-draw requirements for 737 heavy maintenance visits. Solicit and evaluate vendor proposals, monitor performance, and recommend third-party contract maintenance facilities for maintenance requirements.

* Conduct Pre-Dock meeting(s) to ensure thorough understanding of maintenance requirements by vendor, and to ensure vendor thoroughly understands Sun Country Airlines’ policies and procedures. Monitor vendor performance during heavy maintenance visit to identify the ability of vendor to meet delivery date and ensure Sun Country Airlines’ policy and procedures are understood.

* Evaluate actual vendor performance (man-hours and cost) to values provided in pre-visit estimates. Adjust maintenance program, if necessary, to address significant items found during heavy maintenance visit.

* Monitor cost performance of contract maintenance, activities, and identifying problem areas with comprehensive fixes.

* Conduct all tasks in a safe and efficient manner complying with all local, state, and federal safety and health regulatory requirements, programmatic standards, and with any internal policies and procedures identified by Sun Country Airlines.

* Assist in any other duties as directed by the Director, Maintenance Production and Planning.

Required Skills

The potential candidate for Manager of Maintenance Planning must have the ability to effectively communicate both in written and verbal forms.

The candidate must have the ability to interact with various departments within Sun Country Airlines to include Flight Operations, In-Flight Operations and Ground Handling Operations.

The candidate must be proficient with various Microsoft Office Suite Programs to include Word, Excel and Outlook.

Required Experience

The candidate must have a minimum of seven (7) years in a FAR Part 121 Airline Maintenance Operation.

The candidate must have a minimum of two (2) years in a supervisory role within an airline maintenance operations.

The candidate must have a minimum of three (3) years in Aircraft Maintenance Planning with experience in short-term, intermediate and long-term maintenance planning.
