Position Overview:

The Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for the overall management and supervision of the CI Department and the related administrative duties. They are required to work with the CI Vice-President and CI Steering Committee to establish CI Project priorities, along with departmental priorities. This position will monitor CI projects and take appropriate action to ensure milestones are being met. The CI Manager will provide project status updates and measures showing a project’s success. They will also provide technical oversight and assistance to the solutions being recommended and implemented.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

* Department supervision including related administrative duties

* Manage, monitor and report on activities related to employee performance and attendance

* Manage, monitor, prioritize and report on CI projects.

* Project Management for CI projects

* Ensure project success measures are developed and measured to evaluate project plan and recommended solutions are sound.

* Take necessary steps to ensure projects meet their timelines

* Spend a minimum of 25% of time with projects or project tasks you will take responsibility for.

* Other duties as required.

Position Requirements:

* Bachelors of Engineering, Industrial preferred.

* Professional Engineer, membership with APENS, or eligible for membership

* Project Management Professional (PMP) would be an asset

* Six Sigma Black Belt, Green Belt, or Lean Manufacturing Experience and/or Certification an asset

* Minimum of 7 years of Industrial Engineering or Continuous Improvement experience, Aerospace or Manufacturing environment preferred.

* Project Management experience.

* Specific experience implementing solutions using the following skill sets: Lean manufacturing, Value Stream Mapping, Key Performance Measurement, 8S.

* Experience in projects involving a Technology solution would be an asset.

* Strong leadership, strategic, analytical and problem solving skills

* Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills.

* Prior exposure to ISO and unionized environments would be an asset

* Experience in developing Project Charters.

* Experience in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other continuous improvement methodologies.

* Responsible position for at least 7 years in the application of Industrial Engineering techniques.

* Previous management experience would be an asset.

* COMPUTER SKILLS:

* Microsoft Office Products – Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, Access, Project, Powerpoint

* JD Edwards / ERP Systems

* Exposure to other technologies would be an asset

* PERSONALITY TRAITS:

* Self starter

* Able to work with the complete IMP Aerospace organization including Senior Management

* Strong communication skills

* Able to perform effectively under pressure and work with minimal supervision

* Exceptional continuous improvement skills including the ability to assess situations, identify root causes, develop solutions and strategies to improve and control are required.

* Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies.Continually focusing on your individual safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your work and to fully comply with all Federal Health and Safety Legislation.

* Participate in Continuous Improvement, Lean & 8S activities in your area.

* Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances.
