GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY

The Manager, Avionics shall provide strategic leadership and management of the activities, operations, and personnel. The Manager reports deviations between estimated expenditures and actual costs to the higher management with appropriate proofs and explanations. The Aviation manager advises the management on the status and requirements for aircraft and other equipment consistent with the company needs. Maintain the highest level of safety, service and standards for operating under FAA regulations.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

* Schedule department workload and ensure timely completion. Set workload priorities.
* Perform duties required to plan, direct, and manage the Avionics department. Responsible for the service and installation of Avionics equipment.
* Hire, develop, and assist subordinate supervisors, including training, analyzing and resolving work problems or assisting in solving work problems; approve personnel actions such as hiring, salary increases, promotions, and disciplinary measures.
* Confer and/or meet with customers to determine Avionics sales and service needs, to explain how Flying Colours Corp can assist them, specify equipment to customers for aircraft installation.
* Coordinate with Engineering on all Avionic installations and modifications.
* Verify department compliance with FAA regulations.
* Develop shop capabilities to support new aircraft systems.
* Review and approve work orders/invoices for billing.
* Coordinate personnel requirements with other departments.
* Coordinate with outside vendors on equipment repair and new equipment issues.
* Respond to and resolve customer issues and complaints such as billing, scheduling, etc.
* Monitor jobs in progress and respond to changes to ensure schedules are met.
* Monitor department expenses to insure compliance with established budget.
* Supervise all Avionics Department employees.
* Determine parts, labor and services in order to assist sales with quoting work to customers. Prepare and present quotes as needed.
* Ensure the repair station has the appropriate rating for the work to be performed.
* Be able to perform duties as required per the Repair Station Manual.

WORKING CONDITIONS

* Regular periods during which physical effort is required, e.g., walking standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.
* Exposure to factors such as temperature variations/extremes, fumes, moving machinery, humidity, and materials which can cause periods of discomfort.
* Frequent need to give concentrated attention, with one or two senses at a time, where stimuli are changing.
* Occasional direct and indirect pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

* Minimum five years of experience in a similar/related position or adequate experience in order to fulfill the duties of the position.
* Broad knowledge of Avionics technology, with specific knowledge in the primary Avionics systems, equivalent to a complete college or university education.
* FCC General Radio Telephone License.
* Thorough knowledge of Avionics technology, with specific knowledge in the primary Avionics systems.
* Personnel Management and business management.
* High School Diploma or equivalent.

SKILLS/COMPENTENCY REQUIREMENTS

* High degree of abstract reasoning.
* Ability to manage personnel, prioritize work to be performed, assign tasks to appropriate personnel, work with other departments within the repair station, and manage projects to completion.
* Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral form.
* Ability to work individually as well as in a team environment.
* Ability to read and understand technical literature and manuals.
* Detail oriented.
