Purpose - Job Summary:

Performs journeyman level electrician duties as assigned working from blueprints, sketches, and other data and instructions to install or maintain facility and production equipment following all health and safety practices.

Using the ability to read and write English follows all required standards in the performance of assigned work displaying appropriate competencies in accordance with FAA Regulations, and related materials. Incumbent is required to meet all training requirements set out in a separate, but specific DAI Training Matrices chart for each job. Visual Inspections

1.

Responsible for the repair and preventive maintenance of all facility equipment including: building structure, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), lighting, plumbing, electrical, and kitchen equipment using available tools and/or outside contracted services as needed.

2.

Plan work according to assigned production schedules and establish operating sequences to accomplish assigned maintenance electrician tasks working from blueprints, sketches, other data and instructions.

3.

Perform all assigned work within time standards and with minimum amount of material scrappage.

4.

Performs scheduled inspections / testing of systems including: generators, fire extinguishers, lighting controls, and HVAC system, to meet state, city or facility requirements.

5.

Maintains communications with persons in need of a service, through phone/voicemail, e-mail or directly.

6.

May repair/adjust office fixtures and cubicle walls when needed.

7.

Able to work with a flexible schedule and on 24-hour call if needed.

8.

Identify opportunities for improvement processes, in working practices and team efficiency.

Qualifications

Direct /Indirect Experience:

Should have one to three (1-3) years, or three to five (3-5) if in a journeyman level, in an environment where they have acquired a working knowledge of electrical machinery and facility maintenance.

Qualifications: (Including Licenses and Certifications)

Must have a city journeyman electrical license.

High school or equivalent preferred plus specialized training in electrical installation and maintenance work including shop mathematic, (decimals, fractions, geometric functions, layout of angles, etc.) and blueprint reading.

Must be able to read and interpret technical manuals, work specifications, service bulletins and work instructions while demonstrating proficiency in installation, repair and maintenance of electrical components and fixtures.

Maintenance electricians must demonstrate proficiency within the classification during the probationary period.

Level of Decision Making/Problem Solving:

Physical:

Shop Work: exerting up to (50-70) pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Work involves walking, sitting, driving or standing for brief periods of time. Near clarity of vision is required for close up engine and chart/document analysis.

Reaching: extending hands and arms in any direction.

Handling: seizing, holding, grasping, turning or otherwise working with hand(s). Fingers are involved to the extent that they are an extension of the hand, such as to turn a switch or shift gears such as picking, pinching or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.

Talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to convey detailed spoken instruction to other workers accurately.

Hearing: perceiving the nature of sounds by ear.

Mental:

The job requires careful diligence/attention in performing duties under normal mental stresses commonly associated with detailed electrical/mechanical/technical work.

Engine shop environments, including: high voltage wiring and dangerous electrical components where electrocution is a danger, hoists, heavy parts, chemicals and fluids with use of precision instruments, stringent housekeeping and work area safety regulations and practices to observe and maintain.

Environment may include periods of elevated noise exposure due to equipment operations or engine testing.

May have occasional exposure to outside weather conditions.
