Position Overview:

The Carpenter carries out maintenance on Company owned buildings of wood, steel and concrete constructions, including roofing and painting.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

* Manufactures and repairs interior trims and finishes.

* Manufactures and repairs office furniture, office equipment and wooded construction.

* Manufactures and repairs wooden packing crates for all aircraft parts, components and other equipment, whether Company or Government owned, to the applicable engineering data or Company procedures.

* Completes drywall application and wood & metal framing.

* May perform or assist other members of the maintenance trades as required.

* Willing to attend upgrade training for trade or professional development.

* Removes all debris accumulated by task(s) performed and maintains a clean, safe work area.

* Adhere to all policies, procedures and directives as established by the Company.

Position Requirements:

* The Carpenter should, as a minimum, meet one of the following: be a graduate of a recognized carpentry program or apprenticeship program; hold a Journeyman Certificate issued by the Department of Labour; or equivalent industry experience.

* A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the carpentry trade.

* Will have experience using equipment such as, bench saw, radial arm saws, drill presses, band saws, skill saws, router, electric drill, planers and ram sets.

* Strong teamwork skills with an ability to work independently and under minimum supervision.

* Have the ability to multi-task and manage numerous projects at one time.

* Must be capable of reading and interpreting technical documentation such as; drawings and blue prints.

* Hold a valid NS Class 5 Driver’s License and the ability to drive Company vehicles.

* Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies.Continually focusing on your individual safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your work and to fully comply with all Federal Health and Safety Legislation.

* Participate in Continuous Improvement, Lean & 8S activities in your area.

* Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian Government Security Clearances.
