The Communications Manager for our Interiors, Actuation & Propeller Systems (IAPS) business unit is a key player in the global communication team, with a principal focus to deliver effective and meaningful communications counsel to the IAPS business leadership team, while championing best practice executive and employee communication efforts.

Reporting directly to the VP, Communications and with dotted line accountability to IAPS Executive leadership team, the communications manager leads the implementation of a cohesive and integrated communications strategy for the IAPS business unit, while driving consistency with UTC Aerospace System’s overall communications and strategic objectives. The role works closely with business partners to equip leaders and managers with the tools to engage their teams, and delivers efficient and impactful communication materials for business initiatives, such as leadership messages, executive presentations, social media content, videos and multi-media campaigns as appropriate. A successful candidate will be effective in establishing solid relationships in order to support or initiate innovative practices throughout a matrixed, cross-functional team in a global environment, including close collaboration with the central Communications team.

Principal Responsibilities:

* Work with senior leaders from the Interiors, Actuation and Propellers Systems (IAPS) strategic business unit and central Communications teams to build and execute a robust executive and employee communications program that supports and advances SBU strategic initiatives.
* Lead a cross section of manufacturing and business personnel to implement communications vehicles and activities across the business and manufacturing sites to foster dialogue and support employee engagement. Guide business and functional teams to ensure consistent and aligned messaging across the organization.
* Work directly with the central Communication team to support external communications strategies and tactics related to our products and business; including but not limited to media releases, social media channels, position statements, key messages, Q&A.
* Coordinate with the central Communication team to anticipate and manage communications for issues and crisis that could impact the company’s reputation among key stakeholders, employees or disrupt business activities
* Create timely, relevant, dynamic written communications and presentations.
* Produce internal videos, webcasts and audiocasts on a regular basis to inform the employee population about progress against business strategies and goals.
* Counsel senior leaders on communications issues and key decisions working in collaboration with HR.

Qualifications •Minimum of five to seven years of communications leadership experience in a corporate environment
•Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills, including proficiency in preparing and presenting materials on behalf of executives, including PowerPoint skills.
•Strong executive presence and experience advising all levels of leaders in an organization on best practice communications and engagement.
•Must be a strategic communications thought leader accustomed to working in a high-functioning, results oriented, collaborative environment.
•Excellent interpersonal skills allowing for relationship-building with internal and external partners.
•A good understanding of the relationship between internal and external communications, and traditional and evolving channels.
•Must possess a well-balanced consultative approach and the ability to work with the business and colleagues across all levels, with emphasis on executive relationships.
•Proven project management and organizational skills, and a demonstrated ability to produce quality outcomes.
•Knowledge of AP style and principles of writing for the Web/rich media.
•Familiarity with social media channels/web based tools/posting relevant content.
•Ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize and act with a sense of urgency
•Critical thinking and an ability to understand complex business issues to craft messages for targeted audience groups
•Passion for engaging in new and innovative communications to create breakthrough audience experiences
•Healthy sense of humor, positive outlook and lover of all things team
Education Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communications, English, marketing or similar area of study. Master’s degree preferred.
