HGV Mechanic to maintain their fleet of aircraft refuelling vehicles at our Aberdeen Airport Site and on occasion Inverness Airport.

You will be part of a team responsible for planned and non-planned maintenance for a fleet of 13 – 30,000 ltr trucks between Aberdeen and Inverness. In addition some other duties include:

Working as a member of the maintenance team to ensure the on-time vehicle servicing and inspection of aircraft refuelling vehicles and associated fuelling equipment.

Organising own site visits and workloads to ensure vehicle inspections are carried out on schedule.

Providing sites with support for the non-routine maintenance of refuelling equipment. Some visits will be on a ‘call out’ basis so flexibility and a proactive attitude to problem solving will be required.

Oversee the use of 3rd party contractors to carry out specialised vehicle repairs and ensure that all recoverable costs are processed in accordance with prescribed requirements.

Ensuring that the Workshop complies to health and safety standards, ensuring all areas and equipment are safely stored.

*
Ensure that suitable levels of vehicle spare parts are maintained whilst keeping within agreed budgets.

The role will be based at Aberdeen Airport workshop with a requirement to support both Aberdeen and Inverness sites.

Hours of work are an average of 37.5 per week Monday to Friday but with the potential to move to a more flexible working pattern; to support the increasing workload and airport expansion in the future. This may involve working at weekends where a shift allowance may be payable.

The successful candidate will need to be:

A time served Truck Mechanic (HGV mechanic)

*
Currently or recently working on HGV Vehicles

*
A strong team player

*
have strong organisational skills and be able to work on their own initiative, working to strict deadlines and task objectives, with limited supervision

*
Ideally the successful candidate will hold a C+E License, but this is not essential

As this role involves some airside working, a CRB check and checkable work history, is essential as part of the airside pass application process.

In return, we offer a salary of up to £17.40 per hour approx. (£35,000 per annum) dependant on experience, a generous performance bonus scheme, up to 10% employers pension contribution, 25 days annual holiday plus public holidays and other benefits including child care voucher and cycle to work schemes.
