Job Summary

To work as a Driver across all the short haul & long haul operations as outlined within the organisation. To work flexibly across all the “Main Duties & Responsibilities” as outlined below, on any airline accounts and as directed.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

*

To be responsible for the timely and efficient load and unload of food and equipment (including media equipment) according to work schedules as directed by the Allocator, to ensure there are no customer complaints

*

Use of & understanding of work allocations systems

*

Check quantity of trolleys per uplift

*

Ensure that loads are distributed securely in order to load goods into vehicles with due regard to axle and gross weights, according to construction and regulations

*

To be responsible for any load carried, and ensuring that the load is stowed on to the aircraft correctly

*

To complete all records of work and documentation, in accordance with company/legal requirements

*

To carry out duties in accordance with company standards using initiative and judgement to ensure maximum benefit to company and customer

*

Collect uplifts from base and deliver to aircraft

*

Control stock on van and order/rotate accordingly

*

To report any missing items, duplicate stowages, broken assets and/or broken seals to Transport and Despatch Manager

*

Load lorry with waste catering and equipment and delivery to base

*

To supply any catering or equipment short fall (top up) from the unit to the aircraft

*

Pack top-up uplift into boxes to order

*

To take all possible care to avoid damage to company’s or customer premises or property

*

To safeguard and maintain good customer relations

*

To ensure that a clean and full uniform is worn, maintaining good personal hygiene

*

To comply with all DFTsecurity regulations and wear appropriate PPE at all times, including hairnets and beard hoods when in Despatch and Equipment Processing

*

To keep all designated loading and ramp areas in a clean and orderly manner

*

To be responsible for security of customers and company’s property at all times

*

To participate in any company training and in the training of new employees and trainees as required

*

Ensure understanding of responsibilities and functions as designated by the Allocator or as directed

*

Feed back work progress and problems to the Allocators or the Line Manager

*

To immediately report to your Shift Manager any incident which has or will affect your driving licence

*

To drive vehicles for which the appropriate class of licence is held, in safe and lawful manner

*

To participate in refresher training/medical assessments as directed

*

To take responsibility at all times for tasks undertaken, and to carry out all tasks as directed by Line Manager, and in accordance with any specific customer requirements

*

To ensure that surrounding work area is kept clean and tidy at all times, complying with any ‘clean as you go’ policies in place

*

To meet all targets and deadlines as requested

*

To ensure at all times that you have full understanding of customer requirements

*

To ensure compliance with all DFT regulations

*

To adhere to all Airside by-laws and regulations

*

To report any other work, driving or otherwise, (outside of GG) and be mindful of drivers

*

To ensure full compliance with statutory tacograph hours regulations

To ensure that your Driver CPC Card is up to date at all times

*

To ensure all hygiene and health & safety regulations are met and complied with, including using the correct kinetic lifting techniques

*

To report all accidents/injuries and near misses that occur whilst at work. In addition, comply fully with all accident/injury investigations that may be witnessed

*

Ensure understanding of responsibilities and functions as designated by the Line Manager

*

Refer to reference guides/articles/procedures manuals etc. regularly for accurate information/advice and ensure any update requirements are carried out

*

Liaise with other members of the department to ensure co-operation and consistent approach at all times

*

Liaise with customers (internal) to ensure an understanding of the requirements and responsibilities for oneself and other members of the team

Vehicle Maintenance & Checks

*

To conduct thorough vehicle checks, in accordance with Company Policy & Procedure, and report any defects or concerns to your Transport Allocator prior to commencing your journey

*

To ensure your vehicle is legally roadworthy at all times, and to immediately (or as soon as is reasonably practicable), report any concerns that may arise during a journey to your Manager

*

To keep vehicles clean at all times

*

To refuel vehicles daily

Qualifications:

Education

*

GCSE passes in English and Maths (or equivalent)

*

Minimum Class II HGV licence

*

CPC Qualification Card

*

Digital Tachograph Card

*

Clean full driving licence.

Work Experience

*

Hold a current and clean driving licence

*

Full understanding of EU drivers hours regulations

*

Good standard of English, both written and verbal

*

Previous experience in a similar role

*

Experience of working in a fast-paced deadline driven environment

Skills & Knowledge

*

Clean and current driving licence – HGV class

*

Recent HGV driving experience (preferably within last 6 months)

*

Full understanding of EU drivers hours regulations, in the use and management of your Heavy

Goods vehicle

*

Manual loading experience

*

Positive

Ability to meet tight deadlines

Days: 5 on 3 off

Nights: 4 on 4 off
