The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist(EH & S Specialist) is responsible for maintaining the compliance management and environmental sustainability programs, overseeing those aspects of the EH&S functional website, compiling executive level presentations and EH&S communications. This job will also involve participating/leading audits and assisting sites in completing projects and program evaluations where needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain the compliance management process for the organization at the corporate level.
• Interpret EH&S regulations and develop/assist with implementation strategies to ensure compliance with regulations and company requirements.

* Update and manage the UTAS EH&S compliance program.
* Develop initiatives to reduce the UTAS portfolios compliance risks around waste water, hazardous waste, and GHG.
* Review the permits for the entire UTAS portfolio and work with sites to determine the permits with the highest risk of a compliance event.
* Develop permit review process for permits classified as high risk and assist sites in the completion of an annual line by line permit reviews.
* Develop initiative to ensure sites audits/inspections processes are assessing compliance issues.
* Manage the governmental reporting for environmental requirements that need to be reported at the corporate level

* Manage Environmental Sustainability program to reduce UTAS total environmental impact.
* Work with individual sites as needed on Environmental Compliance and Sustainability related initiatives to support the 2020 goals for; 0 adverse events and to meet reduction targets for environmental sustainability metrics.
* Develop and coordinate EH&S related communications from the EH&S group to the global EH&S organization.
* Oversee the content and structure of the EH&S functional website to maintain current and relevant information.
* Responsible for several components of a project or a complex component of a larger project
* Contributes to their team or department by applying their knowledge of one or more functional areas
* Fully developed professional able to work without direct guidance or direction from others
* Has in depth knowledge of the discipline and role
* Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
* Minimum of 4 years experience working in manufacturing industry

* Minimum of 4 years working experience with EPA & OSHA regulations, reporting, programs, etc.
* Strong MS Office Skills(Excel and Word)

* Experience designing and delivering Environmental Health & Safety training

* Experience leading a team
* Experience managing programs from creation to completion
* Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment and matrix environment
* Strong ergonomic (human factors) background a plus
* Good communications skills both written and oral
* Strong presentation skills required
* Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and deal with top level customer, company and other personnel

Education Degree Requirement:

* BA/BS degree w/4–7+ years experience
* MA/MS degree w/2–5+ years experience
* PhD degree w/0–2+ years experience
