Full Time / 2 year Fixed Term Contract – Salary up to £35,000 (dependent on experience)

Location: Ashford, Kent

Mission Aviation Fellowship is an international Christian organisation whose mission is to fly light aircraft, and to use other technologies to bring help and hope to people in some of the world’s poorest communities. Every four minutes a MAF plane is taking off or landing somewhere in the world to assist missions, churches, aid and development agencies, and other local groups to transform lives and share the love of God

Our engineers provide a critical service that enables MAF to fulfil its mission by ensuring that our aircraft are reliable in the harsh and isolated environments where we operate. We are now looking to develop training pathways for MAF engineers of the future.

This is a new opportunity for someone with a background in Aviation to establish and manage engineering pathways for trainees in the UK. With potential to reach into Europe, we will hope to secure adequate engineering resources for MAF into the future.

You will identify and manage the relationship with suitable Part 147 and Part 66 training organisations to enable candidates to obtain practical and theoretical experience, ultimately gaining an approved B licence.

You will develop and implement a 5 year engineering training plan in the UK which will culminate in candidates entering active programme service.  Working closely with the MAFI HR and Aviation Department, you will manage the relationship and journey of suitable candidates.

You will analyse the effectiveness of the training scheme and make improvements to ensure value for money and candidate success. You will also provide oversight and mentoring support for the trainees to ensure they have the greatest opportunity for success.

Additionally, you will assist the HR department in recruitment and assessment processes by participating in technical evaluations, providing advice on candidate suitability, gaps and additional training that may be required.

An integral part of the position will be to keep up-to date with regulatory and licensing requirements in operational countries and ensuring that training and licensing is suitable.

We are looking for someone who is coming from an aircraft maintenance background and holds a B type engineering licence. You will be trained in Human Factors (Maintenance) with experience of working with aviation authorities. It important that you have a strong motivation towards training and development of individuals. It is desirable that you will hold a certificate in training or equivalent qualification and have experience of working overseas in a developing country.

There is an occupational requirement for the job holder of this position to be a committed Christian. The post holder will be expected to take part in prayer and biblical reflection, and to be a role model for the organisation in accordance with our Christian beliefs and standards in the workplace.

The closing date for applications is Monday 15th July 2019 and interviews will take place week commencing 29th July 2019 at our Ashford office.
