Electronics Design Engineer

Job Title: Electronics Engineer - Permanent

30-40K + higher for the right candidate

Analogue electronics
Competence in:
Linear power supply design including thermal design for heat sinks.
Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) design including thermal design for heat sinks and switching components. Appreciation of noise and EMI emissions.
Battery management for both rechargeable and non-rechargeable.
Operational amplifier design including low pass filter, high pass filter, voltage-frequency converter, strain gauge amplifiers.
Small signal analogue design with appreciation for noise reduction through PCB layout
Sensor interface for mechanical switch, magnetic switch, temperature, humidity and pressure.
Power output driver design for analogue drive control including Class A, AB, and D architectures.
Understanding of design for harsh environment, particularly for wide temperature operation.

Digital electronics
Competence in:
Logic analysis including boolean design.
Design of high speed circuits including PCB track inductance and capacitance influences.
Thermal management and design for minimum power use.
Power drivers for resistive and inductive loads including thermal management.
Digital interfaces including RS232, SPI, I2C, one-wire and LVDS.
Design of long wire interfaces for remote communication.
ADC and DAC design.

Embedded software
Competence in:
Embedded assembler for small microcontroller devices
Embedded C for medium size microcontrollers.
Appreciation of requirements to select appropriate microcontroller for task
Experience of typical microcontroller peripherals such as timer, comparator, SPI, I2C, UART, watchdog, ADC, DAC, PWM and LCD.
Experience in software design for reliable operation.



PC application software
Competence in:
Application software for setup and monitor support products written in high level languages such as C, C++ or Delphi capable of operating across a wide range of Windows operating systems (WinXP upwards).
Software design to access PC USB bus for serial communication with products.

Commercial
Competence in:
Appreciation of CE requirements for electronic products
Schematic diagram production
PCB layout
CAD
Software documentation
Version control experience for software and PCBs
BOM generation for purchase and cost analysis
Initial project cost and time estimation
