This announcement is for a Director of Safety Management System (SMS), Ground Safety, and
Security for Ravn Air Group. This position reports to the Vice President of Safety, Security,
and Compliance (SSC) and is responsible for, and holds the authority to prepare, modify and
maintain the company Safety Programs, Security Program, and associated processes. The
successful candidate will have at least three years of experience in the aviation industry as a
commercial pilot, maintenance supervisor (or manager), or Safety and Security supervisor (or
manager) in addition to a passion for aviation and safety.

This is an exempt, full time, benefits-eligible position. Position typically works Monday
through Friday in Anchorage, however overtime may be required as dictated by business
needs.
Minimum Qualifications
 High School Diploma/GED required, college degree preferred;  Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a management or supervisory position for a Safety and

Security program conducted under 14 CFR 121 or 135 or; as a Pilot-in-Command of an aircraft
operated under 14 CFR 121 or 135 or; as a manager or supervisor of a maintenance program
conducted under 14 CFR 121 or 135;  Other established professional qualifications to include any of the following: an FAA commercial pilot or
airline transport pilot certificate; an FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificate; three (3) years’ experience
in a supervisory position with a 14 CFR 121 or a 14 CFR 135 air carrier; three (3) years’ experience in a
supervisory position in U.S. military aviation operations; or, three (3) years experience in a supervisory
position with a U.S. Government department, board, or agency that deals directly with aviation matters;  Extensive operational experience and professional qualifications in aviation to include the knowledge
and understanding of 14 CFR Chapter 1 (Federal Aviation Regulations); the certificate holder’s
operations specifications; all appropriate maintenance and airworthiness requirements of 14 CFR
Chapter 1 (e.g., parts 1, 21, 23, 25, 43, 45, 47, 65, 91, and 121); aviation safety programs including
FAA Safety Management Systems; aviation safety standards; safe aviation operating practices; and,
aviation security to include TSA requirements;  Ability to develop and provide instruction to air carrier personnel on the Company’s approved safety
and security programs and procedures;  Good written and verbal communication skills;

 Able to pass a background check;  Comfortable working in an airport environment around odors and sounds typically associated with
operating aircraft. Duties & Responsibilities

 Responsible for acting as the focal point for safety management issues in the organization;  Supervise and maintain the safety management processes and procedures within the SMS;  Participate in industry and Company aviation safety conferences and forums;  The solicitation of safety improvement suggestions, safety reports, and hazard identification from all
departments and employees;  Development, implementation, and maintenance of the Ravn Air Group SMS;  The monitoring of all departments to ensure proper documentation of accidents, incidents, and injuries
in accordance with the Ravn Air Group SMS and Emergency Response Manual;  The monitoring of a reporting system that provides for a timely and free flow of safety-related
information;  The monitoring of recommendations and guidelines distributed by the Federal Aviation Administration
(FAA), National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), Transportation Security Administration (TSA),
and industry safety and security organizations and associations;  Maintenance of Ravn Air Group air carrier security program in accordance with Transportation Security
Administration (TSA) regulatory requirements;  Investigation and reporting of incidents/accidents and making of recommendations to preclude a
recurrence;  Oversight and maintenance of the Ravn Air Group Emergency Response Manual;  Other duties as assigned and within the scope of this position.
