Every second a plane takes off with UTC Aerospace Systems (UTAS) equipment onboard. From space exploration and defense to today’s more electric, more intelligent, more integrated aircraft – our systems make modern flight possible. And by “make it possible,” we mean: we start it, power it, control it, ventilate it, quiet it, land it, stop it and monitor it. We have more than 41,000 employees across 26 countries working at the forefront of technological innovation. Thanks to their efforts, our global reach and our market-leading position, we do big things no one else can do.

The nature of our global business is complex, and the Controller’s Organization provides numerous critical support functions that serve all UTAS businesses. Key functions include Financial Reporting & Consolidations, Financial Controls, Technical Accounting, Government Finance & Controls, Financial Shared Services, and Treasury. Our responsibility in each of these functions is to facilitate the highest ethical and compliance standards in our worldwide accounting, reporting, controls and compliance processes worldwide.

The U.S. Government (USG) is a significant customer of UTC Aerospace Systems and United Technologies, and has unique accounting and compliance requirements. Accordingly, the skills and experience gained in this role are important building blocks for anyone who works in an aerospace company finance organization. This person in this role will serve as the leader of UTAS’ Government Finance & Controls team (GF&C), reporting to the UTAS Vice President, Assistant Controller. This person will work closely with UTAS’ business unit finance leadership worldwide to assist with the financial and compliance management of their USG

business. This person will also be a key interface on financial and compliance matters with USG senior leadership and the UTC Corporate Office. Additional special project and support roles within the Controller’s Organization are also a key part of this position.

In this role you will:

* Model and drive ethical and compliant USG accounting and controls practices throughout the organization.
* Provide USG compliance guidance and counsel to UTAS senior leadership and business units.
* Serve as the senior point of contact with USG senior leadership at the Defense Contract Management Agency and Defense Contract Audit Agency
* Partner with UTAS business unit CFOs and Controllers to assess, drive and continuously improve the USG controls environment
* Provide strategic leadership for:

The Central Government Finance team: Doing business with the USG requires modifications to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for both preparing USG proposals and reporting financial results (GAAP “Plus”). The Government Finance team performs these financial functions centrally in partnership with the UTAS business units.

The Government Controls team: This team provides valuable compliance support, regulatory guidance, training and controls assessment oversight to ensure key controls are operating effectively throughout UTAS.

* Lead and support Controller’s Organization special projects and initiatives

Qualifications 15+ years of progressive experience in Accounting and Finance roles, preferably within a large global manufacturing and/or aerospace corporation. Candidate must have:

• Strong analytical, customer focus, and communication skills.
• A solid controls mindset and be willing to lead and drive effective controls throughout the organization.
• Experience managing teams and leading cross functional initiatives.
• A track record of “focus on results.”

The following experience is not required but is a plus:
