We have an immediate opening for a Director, Contracts and Legal Services in the Contracts and Legal Services department at Bombardier Commercial Aircraft. Reporting to the Vice-President, Contracts and Legal Services, the successful candidate will hold a dual role of Director of Contracts, overseeing a team of professionals responsible for aircraft contracts as well as a Legal Advisor to the organization. The position is located in Mirabel, Quebec.

In your role, you will:

- Provide guidance and strategic input with respect to transaction formulation and execution, as well as lead and oversee the negotiation, drafting, execution and administration of various contractual agreements regarding commercial aircraft transactions for both new and used aircraft and related agreements and deliverables
- Manage a team of professionals based in Mirabel and Toronto that are involved with the negotiation, drafting, execution and administration of various contractual agreements
- Act as legal advisor to the organization in respect of all such contractual matters as well as providing general legal advice, managing overall risks and ensuring compliance to the company’s governance and policies
- Be responsible for leading creatively the timely resolution of issues with internal and external stakeholders and customers pertaining to such various contractual agreements
- Provide leadership / direction to direct reports, ensuring proper work and resource allocation; identifying clear roles and responsibilities for each member of the team
- Manage performance and development of direct reports through performance management and professional development programs (PMP/PDP), goal setting, on-going assessment and coaching

Qualifications

As our ideal candidate,

- You hold a University degree in Law, a second degree, such as Business, Engineering or MBA is a definite asset
- You are a practicing member of the Bar of at least one Canadian province or one US state
- You have 8 to 10 years of experience as legal counsel in general commercial transactions and/or commercial litigation with at least 3 years of experience with a major law firm
- You have experience managing a team of professionals (legal or non-legal)
- You show great leadership and autonomy attributes, giving you the confidence to positively influence others and take quick, and sometimes controversial, decisions
- You possess superior negotiation, drafting and communication skills
- You have the ability to maintain a healthy balance between legal considerations and business/commercial needs, empowered with a superior capacity to convince people
- You excel in customer service with strong people skills and have the aptitude to foster relationships
- You are flexible to work and travel outside typical working hours to support commercial discussions worldwide
- Experience working with counterparties from around the world, including Asia in particular, as well as ability to relocate abroad in the future would be an asset
- Excellent command of English (oral and written) and, as an asset, functional use of French.
