Barnes Aerospace MRO East Granby has an exciting and challenging career opportunity for a Dimensional Inspector, preferably with 8130 approval certification. In this role you will perform diversified inspection duties on aircraft parts as well as cross train to learn and perform additional functions. This position requires considerable experience, initiative, and ingenuity and the ability to work on your own to produce the highest level of quality and productivity against established standards. You will work constructively with Engineering, participate in company meetings, and make effective recommendations towards improvements in processes and overall productivity. Core Responsibilities:

* Perform a variety of duties to independently complete incoming, layout, first piece, in-process and final inspection of diversified turbine engine components being repaired.

* Perform dimensional and visual inspections on turbine engine components.

* Ensure quality detailed inspection is in compliance with all applicable manuals and technical data.

* Read and understand engine manuals, illustrated parts manuals and other technical data to perform receiving, basic, in-process and final inspection activities.

* Operate computerized measuring equipment, train and assist other inspectors as required with CMM.

* Complete correct and concise documentation of compliance to requirements on organizational, customer and/or regulatory documents.

* Perform a full spectrum of dimensional inspections of parts involving extremely close tolerances.

* Use precision measuring instruments such as dial indicators, micrometers, gauges, ID micrometers, boroscopes, pi tapes, etc.

* Detect faulty operations and materials and report these and other problems to immediate supervisor. Comply with all company and safety rules and regulations. Wear necessary personal protective equipment as required.

* In addition to inspection duties, cross training will be required to learn and perform other duties as necessary.

* Provide training to others as required.

Required Skills

Qualifications:

* A&P Certification or Repairman License Preferred

* 3+ years in aerospace environment

* Knowledge/Practical experience in aerospace environment

* Skills Desired: strong attention to detail, ability to multitask, good communications skills

* Previous FAA Certified Repairman or Airframe and Power Plant Mechanic highly desirable

* Expert proficiency in the use of measuring instruments, i.e. various micrometers, verniers, swing, snap, and dial gauges, etc

* Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical documents.

* Proficient in CMM operation and programming preferred

* Good mathematical skills

Education Requirements:

* High school diploma or equivalent required.

This position is a safety sensitive position. Applicant must comply with all applicable FAA and DOT drug and alcohol testing rules.
