Specific Job Description [JP]

The LM MTF CLS Lead is responsible for providing the required level of Contractor Logistic Support (CLS) support service to achieve the specified training system availability to the end user customer, they lead a small, highly motivated team located on-site within the Aircraft Simulation environment, working with the user customer and CAE subcontracted staff to ensure availability of the Training System devices:

* The Cockpit Dynamic Simulator (CDS)
* The Cockpit Procedural Trainer (CPT)
* Rear Crew Trainers (RCT)
* Human Machine Interface (HMI) Trainers
* Mechanical System Trainer (MST)
* Weapon System Trainer (WST)

This will include

* Responsible to the Systems Supportability Manager for technical leadership of ILS staff under his/her supervision.
* Maintaining the availability of the Merlin Training devices to achieve the IMOS KPI of >96.5%, Mon – Fri, 48 weeks per year by:
* Liaison with the CAE on site manager to address ongoing issues
* Co-chair the CLS Incident Sentencing Committee for all training devices and provide supporting data to sustain achieving KPI.
* Management of the CLS team to provide the CLS support as detailed below.

* Manage and maintain the required level of Contractor Logistic Support (CLS) support service to include:
* Performing electrical and mechanical systems routine inspections and servicing.
* Responding to customer fault arising reports by performing fault diagnosis, rectification, installation, routine and non-routine maintenance, repairs and testing to First Level (1L) on all specified training devices
* Performing daily readiness checks of the specified devices.
* Performing Second Level (2L) in-depth diagnosis and repair on one or more selected systems as assigned.
* Preparation of maintenance documentation.
* Maintenance of spares stockholdings and associated records, interfacing with suppliers as necessary.
* Manage and support the general maintenance, repair activities and other works as required to maintain the capability.
* Provide a 24/7 callout service
* Ensuring the availability of the HVAC to allow for the continued operation of the devices and tenability of the facility

* Undertake required refurbishment and upgrade work as necessary.
* Act as Cost Account Manager for the MTF support cost accounts
* Ensure that all relevant Health and Safety and quality requirements are met
* Maintain required Hydraulic, Electrical and Air services
* Ensure that all associated spares, manuals, documentation, tools, test equipment, and IT equipment are maintained and configured to support the systems
* The review of LM created Engineering Change Proposals (ECP’s)
* The review of ECPs from other Merlin programmes to ensure that Training Devices aspects are captured
* Develop and/or analyses and revision of existing administrative operations and management controls including standard practices, operating procedures, management systems and reporting documentation
* Develop and/or coordinate improvement to policies, methods, procedures, instructions, and forms to achieve greater operations efficiency and cost-effectiveness
* Support new business opportunities as required, including performance, schedule and cost parameters.
* Ensure that ILS products/solutions are not only delivered to a high standard, on schedule and within budget but are clear discriminators for LMUKIS.
* Work closely with the Systems Supportability Manager, to ensure that he/she is kept fully aware of all technical and personnel issues.
* Provide appropriate and controlled escalation of technical issues.
* Comply with legislative requirements and Company and department procedures and ensure currency of knowledge in subject areas.
* Identify opportunities for improvements to standard logistics processes.

Required skills, qualifications and experience [JP]

* Working knowledge of military aircraft training system support and maintenance activity
* Understanding and knowledge of Health and Safety working practices
* Knowledge of support, test and role equipment, supply chain management.
* Knowledge and experience of IT applications – generally Microsoft ™ and bespoke applications as required
* Knowledge and experience of ILS disciplines and the associated requirements
* Minimum of 15 years’ experience, including 10 in aerospace (military / commercial)
* Possess strong verbal and written communication skills and work well in a team environment
* Good leadership skills

Desired skills, qualifications and experience [JP]

* Knowledge and experience of project management techniques such as scheduling, earned value management and task estimation (BOEs).
* Knowledge and experience of Helicopter Systems
* Systems Engineering
* Quality training – Lead auditor AS9100 or equivalent
