Chemisitry Lab Technologist 6 Month Term

Position Description

StandardAero is hiring a 6 month TERM for a Chemical Engineering Technologist. This opportunity is great for a recent grad to gain experience in a laboratory setting in the aerospace industry.

• Sets up and conducts chemical experiments, tests and analyses using techniques such as chromatography, spectroscopy, physical and chemical separation and microscopy.
• Operates and maintains laboratory equipment and apparatus; prepares solutions, reagents and sample formulations.
• Compiles, records and interprets experimental or analytical results.
• Develops and conducts programs of sampling and analysis to maintain quality standards of raw materials, chemical intermediates and products; monitors significant process variables for chemical production processes.
• Provides troubleshooting assistance on process malfunctions to process engineering.
• Assists in the development of chemical engineering processes; studies of chemical engineering procurement, construction, inspection and maintenance; the development of standards, procedures, health and safety measures.
• Initiates and supports implementation of improvements in safety procedures, production processes and maintenance practices in conjunction with process engineering and management.
• Assists in the design and fabrication of experimental apparatus.
• Provides chemical technical support for waste water treatment.
Position Requirements

• Thorough knowledge and use of laboratory equipment such as microscopes, centrifuge, agitators, viscometers, chemical balance scales, spectrophotometers and colorimeters.
• Good organizational, analytical, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of production management computer systems.
• College diploma in chemical, biochemical, chemical engineering technology; or equivalent.
