Your role:

The CF188
Airworthiness Support Services shall provide SME support to the customer (DND) for all the
maintenance activities, development and modification activities on multiple
systems of the CF188. More specifically, he/she act and support require services for Integrated Sustainment Support such as
coordinating and conducting engineering management activities associated with
CF188 airframe and aviation systems. It includes overseeing aspects of
design, engineering, acquisition, installation, in-service support, logistic
support and disposal.

Duties and Responsibilities:

*

CF188 Airworthiness Support Services shall provide Airworthiness
services to the CF188 Airworthiness Support Officer and the CF188 Weapon System
Manager (WSM) to facilitate the effective management of risk assessment, the
weapon system document, airworthiness and configuration data management and
in-service monitoring and reporting of the weapon system;

ASC SME service shall provide a broad range of engineering and technical
support services in relation to CF188 airworthiness support coordination;

*

Maintain and control of all CF188 Record of Airworthiness Risk
Management (RARMs);

*
Perform follow-up an all RARM activities, including the maintenance of
the RARM Register, through continuous communication with the TAs, Engineering
Officers (EOs), and 1 Cdn Air Div personnel;

*

Provide regular status reports to the Senior Design Engineer (SDE);

*

Coordinate annual RARM review and follow-up on any DTAES observations;

*

Assist Airworthiness Support Officer as required in the preparation of
the annual Airworthiness Report;

*

Provide input as required on RARM status in support of the CF188 monthly
Airworthiness Safety Meeting;

*

Maintain the following WSM owned Airworthiness Support Databases:
Provisional Technical Airworthiness Clearance (PTAC) Register, Aircraft Flight
Manual (AFM) Amendment Register, and CF188 WSM Flight Permit Register;

*

Maintain and upkeep of the CF188 Canadian Military Aircraft Type
Certificate (CMATC) documents and the Annual Airworthiness Report (AAR) -Tech;

*

Prepare, review and analysis of Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs),
drawings, specifications, technical Statement of Works (SOWs), Unsatisfactory
Condition Reports (UCRs), etc.;

*

Review and action of Deviations, Flight Permits, Modifications and other
airworthiness documentation to support the operational community;

*

Plan, prepare, and control technical data for procurement and R&O of
system hardware;

*

Conduct and monitor product improvement studies, equipment reviews,
modifications and miscellaneous projects;

*

Preparation and review special inspections and design change proposals;

*

Direct and/or conduct investigations and analyses of aviation systems
failures and recommend corrective action;

*

Monitoring CF188 related airframe and aviation systems activities of
Canadian and foreign companies;

*

Establish and maintain engineering and technical contacts with OEMs,
contractors, other CF188 users, and other sources of technical information;

*

Participate in systems working groups or transfer of technical
information;

*

Provide technical assistance as required for test and evaluation of
aviation systems.

*

Conduct equipment reviews, improvement studies and modification
projects;

*

Direct reviews and assessments of technical publications;

*

Contribute in making decisions and/or recommendations on replacement
parts provisioning;

*

Provide inputs with initiatives to improve the maintenance program;

*

Prepare and staff deviations to the approved maintenance program;

*

Provide recommendation for proposed changes to Canadian Forces Technical
Orders;

*

Support WSM process owners with the elaboration and resolutions of audit
observations and Corrective Action or Preventive Action on
airworthiness-related processes and issues raised as a result of Division
internal audits, Technical Airworthiness Authority (TAA) airworthiness
audits or raised against the WSM as part of TAA airworthiness audits of
external organizations such as DND maintenance;

*

As required, provide specialist Airworthiness advice/ expertise/
direction to the WSM, supporting contractors and other engineering staffs
regarding the CF188 Airworthiness/Quality Systems. These activities have direct
impact on CF188 fleet operations and capabilities;

*

Assist CF188 Senior Engineer as required in managing/maintaining WSM
Engineering Process Manual (EPM) on behalf of the SDE and proposed plans and
solutions to address areas of non-compliance;

*

Prepare general correspondence, provide briefings to communicate issues,
resolve problems update work status and disseminate information
internally/externally;

*

Assist the Airworthiness Support Officer or his/her delegate by
performing other engineering related support services;

*

Keep current on any policy changes to ensure all LCMM are made aware of
these changes; and

*

Provide CM training to DND personnel and other individuals as pertains
to the CF188 fleet.

Qualifications

*
Minimum 5 years of CF188 aircraft technical maintenance or the equivalent on another Canadian Forces fleet;

*
Ability to write reports in English;

*
Working knowledge in the following software: Parts Management Software Inventory Management (ex. SAP/DRIMS), Data Management System (DMS), Microsoft Office;

*
Be eligible to NATO Secret status from the Canadian Industrial Security Program;

*
Bilingualism is an asset (French and English)

Basic knowledge of the following disciplines and skills:

1. Project Management;
2.

CF188 Record of Airworthiness Risk Management;

3.

Preparation, review and analysis of Engineering documents;

4.

Provide specialist Airworthiness advice/ expertise/ direction to the WSM;

5.

Provide a broad range of engineering and technical support services in relation to CF188 airworthiness support coordination.

Particularities of the position:

Based in Gatineau, at National Defense Headquarters

Operational requirements :

Must be eligible for registration to the Controlled Goods Program;

*
The security level required for the LCMM is Level II Secret.
