Summary/Objective: The Base Chief Pilot is responsible for the overall supervision and counsel of flight deck crew members. The successful Base Chief Pilot will be a team player possessing excellent communication and conflict resolution skills with flight crews, labor relation representatives and team members.

* Remain qualified on Company aircraft and operate revenue flying when necessary to ensure schedule reliability.

* Ensure all flight deck crewmembers adhere to the highest standards of conduct, performance and competency.

* Participate in labor relations grievances between all pilot personnel and the Company

* Participate in hiring flight deck crewmembers, monitor pilot assignments.

* Organize and control documentation affecting the pilots’ personnel records (excluding training, flight and duty and basic personnel records delegated to other departments).

* Analyze and arrive at the root causes of operational issues, recommending problem-solving solutions.

* Ability to establish and maintain system of accountability, capability, commitment, execution and results in sustainable ways.

* Assist the Assistant Director of Operations with any special projects as requested.

Competencies and Knowledge: The successful candidate should have demonstrated skills in the following: leadership and management skills; coaching; influence; approachability; performance management; problem solving; strong communication (verbal and written); ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment; professional aptitude; multi-tasking and adaptability in an aggressive growth environment.

Supervisory Responsibility: Responsible for supervision and counsel of flight deck crewmembers.

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, facsimile machines and filing cabinets.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; lift weight up to 25 lbs.; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and may be required to climb up and down stairs

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Office hours are 0800 – 1700 with occasional extended periods of time as necessary to support airline operations. Weekend work hours required. On call twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week for extended periods of time as needed.

Travel: Travel is required of this position.

Required Education and Experience: Must have a full understanding of the operation with respect to aviation standards and safe operating practices, 14 CFR, Chapter 1 and operations specifications.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Previous managerial experience preferred.

Security Clearance: All employees are required to pass the fingerprint-based criminal history records check (CHRC) per 49CFR1542.209.
