The Maintenance Controller is primarily responsible for assuring that our clients aircraft main base and under a Maintenance Support Agreement do not suffer any unnecessary outstation technical delays and, in case of AOG situations, exercises all possible efforts to have the aircraft dispatched within the shortest possible ground time, using all available internal and external information and accomplishing all related work in accordance with the company’s requirements, policies, procedures and authority regulations.

Qualification and Experience :

  • Responsible for the adherence to all internal procedures and must demonstrate best practice.
  • Acts in accordance with defined methods and must report deviations to his superior. Responsible for the coordination of the resources required to follow and to support our clients main base and outstation maintenance activities on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all work is accomplished in accordance with our clients Policies and Procedures, Airworthiness Authority Regulations and, in the case of 3rd party work that all tasks are carried out in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Initiates activities and actions, manages administration procedures within his work field / work section.
  • Advises the department head and supervises work of other people to ensure fleet technical status and airworthiness.
  • Communicate client fleet technical status to all relevant departments.
  • Supervise, monitor and record all work performed at main base and contracted out stations.
  • Make, provide and distribute the station working schedule.
  • Liaise with client and customer QA departments while performing station audits.
  • Supervise and monitor all station AOG part ordering.
  • Support all client maintenance activities with the necessary resources and information to maintain best dispatch reliability.
  • Act as a link between our client and contracted maintenance during AOG and delay situations.
  • Record aircraft flight-, accident & damage-, deferred items- and delay information. Record man-hours and relay invoicing to Maintenance accounting department.
  • Must build-up a process to ensure a uniform approach to managing his tasks and regularly analyse flight interruptions in order to fine-tune the process.
  • Hold and maintain Release to Service of our clients aircraft.
  • Hold and maintain B1 type rating or A&P and a level 3 type course for B747-400/800 fleet.
  • Hold and maintain HF, EWIS, De-icing and Fuel Tank safety qualifications.
  • Contribute to, and promote Risk Assessment.
  • Adhere to all safety and health policies and procedures.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The position demands a regular and full-time presence and inclusion in a shift roster.

Vacation and other absences should be planned in a way that they do not conflict with service requirements.

The position holder is based at LHR. Occasional travel may be required. Flexibility with working hours is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION HOLDER

The post holder is in general accountable for the accomplishment of following job results and tasks:

Our clients fleet tracking and recording

  • by knowing the technical status of operating aircraft.
  • by responding to crew or contracted maintenance support calls
  • by following and updating DMI and c/o records
  • by recording aircraft technical status and providing reports to the other divisions
  • by researching and reporting outstation delay information

Interdepartmental coordination

  • by communicating the relevant fleet technical data to all relevant our clients departments
  • by requesting company resources to assist in troubleshooting or dispatch possibilities
  • by requesting manpower to assist outstation teams
  • by requesting extensions for time limited tasks DMI extensions for our clients fleet.
  • by requesting material assistance during AOG situations

LHR coordination

  • by reporting aircraft restrictions and inoperative systems to our clients departments.
  • by providing maintenance data and references for line maintenance.
  • by providing troubleshooting tips and maintenance guidance to contracted outstation staff
  • by relaying potential or actual problems from crew, or aircraft systems, to contracted line maintenance staff.

AOG handling

  • by being the key person for AOG situations at LHR and all out stations
  • by recording contact data, AOG follow up at LHR and all out stations
  • by informing and updating management and other departments on AOG progress in LHR and all outstations.
  • by organising all resources in-house to allow quick and efficient manpower, parts, tools and equipment dispatch in LHR.
  • by co-ordinating resources and providing advice and instructions to the outstation AOG support teams.
  • by following-up the repair process and providing guidance, if required, until the aircraft is serviceable in LHR and all out stations.

CAMO and EASA rules and requirements

  • by ensuring that such regulations are complied with
  • Follow up of work results
  • by ensuring that appropriate checks and inspections have been carried out in accordance with proper procedures
  • by ensuring that work being performed is being done so in accordance with approved procedures
  • by supporting the internal audit process

Maintain continuity

  • by ensuring that all technical manuals and documents in use are current and registered.
  • by ensuring that all Health and Safety rules are complied with and concerns are appropriately addressed

Budget planning responsibility

  • in conjunction with Maintenance Manager, contributes to establishing the departmental budget
  • by identifying, with the other supervisors, items which require budget action

Revenue and cost control

  • by identifying with other supervisors where cost savings can be achieved and where costs can be minimised
  • by ensuring that tasks are planned and executed with the utmost efficiency with regards to manpower usage, material and equipment usage, time and minimal wastage
