Our aviation systems are taking off, so we’re looking to board an Aviation Systems Engineer with software development experience, who has a passion for solving complex problems and continues to enjoy participating in software development. Garmin aviation systems engineers help conceive and develop the next-generation technologies and products that change how customers fly, maintain, and operate their aircraft. Aviation systems engineers are the glue that ensures we develop the right products, on time, with the right requirements. We are looking for self-motivated, passionate, and creative engineers to develop solutions for our internal and external customers. As a member of this team you will identify opportunities for positive changes throughout the Aviation segment, meet with stakeholders to determine the best course of action, and then ensure those changes are implemented through coordination across teams and/or through direct development of software tools. Further responsibilities include:

* Leads solution development to solve complex problems for internal and external customers
* Proactively improves processes, tools, and procedures
* Possess knowledge and experience with high level language structure in C# or Java, databases (SQL), and web standards such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, DOM, and HTTP
* Identifies, documents, and coordinates technical aspects for development of new interfaces / functionality or changes to existing complex system/tool functionality to support market-driven or specific customer requirements
* Creates system requirements, supporting rationale, technical description documentation, and performs trade-off analysis
* Establishes execution plans compatible with Garmin processes, including discussions with external and internal customers
* Exemplifies Garmin’s Mission, Vision, Values, and Quality Policy and proactively works to improve Garmin’s image and culture

Qualifications

Qualified candidates for this role will possess a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics or similar field from a four-year college or university AND a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.

Preferred qualifications include:

* Masters degree in the fields noted above and 3 years relevant experience in software development or systems engineering
* Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
* Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
* Team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
* Passion for aviation
