Overview

Aerojet Rocketdyne offers a complete line of propulsion products for launch vehicles, missile defense, and advanced hypersonic propulsion. We have an immediate opening for a Associate Manufacturing Engineer for our facility located in the Stennis Space Center, Mississippi.

This current opening may be filled at this level or at one level higher.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

Working under close supervision, the Associate Manufacturing Engineer will apply MRP principles and concepts to address material planning objectives such as ensuring materials are available and ready for production use when needed to support contractual requirements. Provide interdepartmental coordination among other functional disciplines and coordinate the shop floor flow and delivery of finished product.

90% Develop and release planning for rocket engine assemblies and sub-assemblies both in manual (paper form) and EPS (Electronic Planning System) in adherence to program requirements. Utilization of a PDCA cycle to monitor use of developed planning to make changes to improve planning efficiency and planning development lead time. Work with senior planners to improve quality of planning for departmental metrics. Take direction from Manufacturing Engineering Lead on schedule of planning and planning format.

10% Engagement in floor support with assembly operations personnel to review existing and upcoming planning. Coordination with responsible engineer and senior planners to incorporate changes and revisions to provide coherence of engine assembly and sub-assembly planning.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related scientific discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Should be able to read and interpret drawings, develop engine assembly plans, and coordinate planning requirements with multiple departments. Must be able to take direction, adapt to ever changing schedule and make improvements based on constructive feedback. Computer skills are required (Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Additional consideration will be given to candidates with the following preferred job skills:

* Experience with an automated EPS system (Delmia preferred).
* Understanding Manufacturing planning or work instruction creation process.
* Experience working in a manufacturing environment, especially aerospace.
* Wrench Smart is highly desired along with electromechanical assembly experience of assemblies and subassemblies.

US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement. Additionally, individual must be able to obtain and maintain NASA Personnel Reliability Program (PRP) security clearance.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
