We offer a complete line of propulsion products for launch vehicles, missile defense, and advanced hypersonic propulsion.

We are seeking an Associate Engineer, Systems Analysis for our Huntsville, AL office.

In this position, the entry-level engineer will work with senior engineers within Mission Architecture Engineering to conduct integrated vehicle / propulsion system studies to develop concept designs for new propulsion and advanced technology systems. The engineer will perform preliminary sizing, performance, and optimization analyses, model the system architecture, and create documents to communicate results and conclusions. This individual will mentor under the senior engineers to develop the necessary design skills required to analyze and create system designs.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

75% - Working under the direct leadership of senior engineers within the Mission Architecture group, develop preliminary designs and perform trade studies of significant, complex, innovative and advanced propulsion and technology systems to meet customer requirements. Perform appropriate supporting analyses encompassing system sizing, mass estimation, cost, electrical integration, structural integration, control systems and performance. Create concept of operation, requirements development, and initial system architectures for advanced technology systems. Development of sizing and performance tools and analysis creation using FORTRAN, Python, MATLAB, and Model Center.

15% - Assists in the development of presentations and present designs to customers.

10% - Work directly with internal and external customers to identify requirements.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other relevant discipline/science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Course and lab work in propulsion, aerodynamic and mission analyses, orbital mechanics, and optimization methods is desired. Design experience with Nx CAD and/or PTC Creo is desired. Advanced degree preferred.

US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
