Description

Reporting to the Regional Director Airport, Passenger, Cargo and Security – Europe, the candidate will focus on addressing airport development/capacity enhancement programs in the region. The incumbent will also be responsible for all regional activities, initiatives and targets related to airport development and the costs associated to that, following the guidelines from the global APCS team. The focus will be to work with and on behalf of key member airline representatives in airport development and charges consultation processes (based on strategies that meet the business objectives and needs of the airline industry).

Responsibilities

Work closely with the airport development and charges experts in both the Region and in the Centre to identify and develop agreed strategies for airport infrastructure development;
Provide expert support to airlines and engage constructively with airport owners/operators and authorities to ensure airport development and capital expenditure is demand driven, cost effective, prioritized and addresses airlines needs;
Work with airport authorities and states to address airline requirements at major airports, particularly hub airports served by groups of IATA member airlines, that are identified by the Regional management and other regional groups and IATA country offices as necessary;
Conduct fact finding missions with and on behalf of IATA Subject Matter Experts to determine underlying rationale, scale, and cost of proposed airport development/capacity enhancement programs in the Region;
Clearly, document findings and recommendations for airline review and feedback;
Actively support the Regional Director APCS and Regional Vice President on airport development related matters including broader aspects related to airside or landslide operations, security, cargo, and facilitation;
Support other divisional initiatives including MACS consulting, MER, ITDI and SFO safety campaigns.

Qualifications and Skills

University degree or equivalent technical standard for an airport design engineer/architect; suitable experience may be considered in lieu of professional qualification;
Minimum of 10 years project management experience in airport planning, development and/or operation with airlines and airport authorities;
Knowledge about airport charges regulation and consultation processes;
Highly motivated with proven team work abilities;
A self-starter approach with ability to proactively engage with stakeholders and progress work goals;
Excellent communication skills with ability to influence senior stakeholder;
Experience in making clear presentations and preparing reports based on technical merits and facts;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
Fluent in both written and spoken English. Spanish and other languages would be an asset.
