Essential Functions

Position Summary:
Accurately and efficiently assembles/tests a variety of moderate to semi-complex products to achieve customer quality and on-time delivery schedules. Actively contributes to lean initiatives to increase productivity and reduce costs. Receives limited supervisory guidance.

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
1. Performs moderate to semi-complex assembly/test functions utilizing mechanical skills, hand and power tools, mechanical/electronic tools, test equipment, assembly fixtures, and inspection measurement equipment in a manufacturing environment.
2. Sets up moderate to semi-complex test equipment on a variety of products to measure and record valve or system conformance to test specifications.
3. Inspect, measure, verify and approve setup/pattern assembly for lower level operators.
4. Inspect, measure, verify and approve assemblies and paperwork according to blue prints, engineering orders, assembly routes, test specifications, service bulletins, and customer requirements.
5. Troubleshoots and reworks non-conformances disclosed by test data.
6. Performs evaluation and rework of conformity of components according to blueprints and work instructions.
7. Produces and inspects assemblies that conform to product specifications. Assembles and tests to customer and/or industry standards

Qualifications

Qualifications (relevant experience, education and training):
1. Requires high school or diploma or equivalent and three to five years of direct industry related experience in assembly/test in a high-technology manufacturing environment.
2. Must be a Level 4 Certified Operator
3. Demonstrate understanding of semi-complex products involving multiple part families.
4. Demonstrate product and process knowledge by applying it to newly learned techniques.
5. Able to research problems and develop solutions, incorporating multiple variables, to successfully repair product to serviceable condition.
6. Able to work with limited supervisory guidance. Familiar with and able to set up most test fixtures.
7. Able to adapt to procedures, techniques, and/or processes to meet special needs on varied assignments.
8. Proficient in reading and understanding blueprints, route sheets, and test specifications. Perform semi-complex mathematical calculations, as well as demonstrate effective verbal, written, and basic computer skills.
9. Strong mechanical reasoning required. Measurement conversion knowledge required for test applications.
10. May be required to have strong hydraulic and/or electrical background. May require knowledge of fluids theory for test applications. Leakage, flow, friction, and pressure knowledge may be required.
11. Able to implement and effectively apply lean/continuous improvement initiatives.
12. Serves as a resource to other team members and assist in training efforts. Possess effective interpersonal communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a team environment on research and solution development.
13. Able to interpret reports and use standard business software applications. Able to use employee self-service to access on-line information and use specialized automated systems (i.e. PMR, TORS, e-mail).
14. Ability to effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.
15. Able to present production information to other team members and management.
16. Employees assigned to FAA Repair Station are subject to alcohol and drug testing per FAA regulations.

Typical Mental and Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to move about inside the plant to operate machinery. The team member must be able to remain in a stationary position about half the time. The team member is required to operate manual machining equipment, plant machinery and tools to assemble parts and use test equipment. Must be able to detect and identify parts and tools and inspect work for defects and accuracy. Also expected of the team member is regular attendance, the ability to work cooperatively and professionally with others. May be required to move parts or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds across the shop floor. The team member may be exposed to various solvents and lubricants.
