MPI have a requirement for a Continuing Airworthiness Management Development Engineer to be based in either Bristol or Yeovil. There will be some travel to other customer locations as and when required. 

Rate of pay £29.54 PAYE or £38.75 Ltd Company per hour.

This is a contract role for 6 months, subject to security clearance.

General information: 

This role provides engineering support and analysis and supports the establishment of processes to ensure supportability and maintainability of support products and services; directs product definition and design to enhance supportability. Establishes integrated support requirements for product designs of complex systems. Acts as a support focal for support and maintenance equipment requirements. Initiates evaluates coordinates and obtains approval to implement complex and cross-functional program and engineering changes. Identifies and plans the processes tools and activities to develop an integrated support infrastructure. Addresses complex inquiries and provides complex engineering and on-site technical assistance to customer’s ground support equipment and maintenance facilities. 

Job description:

As part of the development of UK MOD MRP-compliant Industry support to Military Continuing Airworthiness Managers for aircraft allotted to the Boeing Company, continuing airworthiness engineering expertise is sought to provide the following:

Assist the development of a Boeing Continuing Airworthiness Management strategy, to guide the:

• Development and sustainment of a Boeing Fixed Wing and Rotary Wing CAMO capability, with associated timeline.

• Development and maintenance of a Boeing CAME or equivalent documentation.

• Identification of Boeing CAMO facilities.

• Identification and sustainment of Boeing CAMO organisation and skill sets.

• Identification of training requirements.

In accordance with the agreed Continuing Airworthiness Management strategy:

• Define and deliver a Fixed Wing BDUK CAMO solution.

• Assist, within capacity, the refinement of existing Rotary Wing CAMO solutions.

• Assist, within available capacity, the development of new Rotary Wing and Autonomous Systems CAMO solutions.

Development and improvement of BDUK continuing airworthiness processes including:

• Engagement with appropriate MilCAM and Boeing functional areas to identify and execute improvements to current process.

• Development of new processes to support continuing airworthiness assurance of Boeing allotted aircraft.

• Engage with MilCAM in the development of joint Industry/MoD processes for the assurance of continuing airworthiness across MoD/Boeing allotment activity.

• Guide the development of Continuing Airworthiness Management metrics and appropriate dashboard to assist day to day management, assure 1st time quality and guide continuous improvement activities.

• Provision of guidance and advice on CAM-related matters to the BDUK Part 145 Organisation, Boeing CFAOS, Boeing Design Organisations and BDUK functional areas and leadership.

Required competencies:

Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively on the planning of work, and develop/use meaningful metrics to evaluate compliance status and provide performance visibility. Able to effectively execute opportunities to improve strategies, processes and project plans. Assist the removal of obstacles by identifying where and what help is needed and coordinating with the appropriate leaders and team members. 

You should possess strong communication skills, technical competency, and skills with project management concepts/tools.  Experience in the application of MAA Military Aviation Authority Regulations and UK MoD airworthiness policies, processes and culture in an aircraft operations environment is essential. Experience in the application of UK MAA, EASA, or FAA Federal Aviation Regulations and other international standards for type certification, continued and continuing airworthiness is extremely desirable. Specific Chinook platform or system experience and product knowledge is highly desired.  Previous industry or military service airworthiness engineering experience is essential. The role will have significant UK MOD and wider Boeing interface and, therefore, a person who is diplomatic whilst being strong minded is required. Some UK travel is expected.

• Able to demonstrate knowledge and appropriate experience related to continuing Airworthiness.

• Able to demonstrate experience in the application of air safety standards & safe operating practices

• A knowledge of MRP Part 145 requirements & procedures

• A comprehensive understanding of CFAOS requirements and procedures

• A comprehensive knowledge of quality management systems including AS9100

Problem Solving: 

• Provides technical solutions to complex problems that require ingenuity and creativity. 

Discretion: 

• Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Completed work is reviewed for desired results from a relatively long-term perspective. 

Impact: 

• Guides the successful completion of aspects of major programs and may function in a project leadership role. Erroneous decisions or recommendations may result in failure to achieve major organisational objectives. 

Liaison: 

• Represents the organisation as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organisations.
