Aircraft Interiors Stress Engineer

This position will provide structural compliance documentation in the support of interior integration programs. Areas of interest are aircraft flooring for both narrow body and wide body, cabinet design, structural engineering (secondary structures) monuments, galleys, aircraft seating and seat tracks and upper attachments. Your main duty within the Stress Engineer role is the stress analysis of interiors within the cabin itself. Most of this focus is around the flooring structure and modification around secondary structures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum 4 year Degree. Bachelors and/or 10+ years of experience. Typical experience in Engineering Classification to be recognized as a Subject Matter Expert.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work within the Aircraft design modification team(s), assist with the generation of certification/structural documentation, and interface with customers.

• Prepare, develop and review FE models/Structural analysis for interior products/secondary structures to support design.

• Prepare, review and approve stress and structural documentation to submit for customer and regulatory approval, mentor, support and lead global team(s) in multiple time zones.

• Coordinate and monitor interior aspects of Structural project schedule with team members and the customer

• Meet assigned schedules and deadlines.

• Review and approve drawing and designs for stress, develop department processes.

• Act on behalf of company as a Structural expert with Airworthiness authorities

• Ability to prioritize for maximum productivity for multiple projects

• Ability to define and document processes as required

• Ability to identify potential issues, analyze and recommend improvements and alternate solutions.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

• Good verbal and written communication skills.

• Interact with other DER, AR’s, CVE’s, Head of Certification, regulatory authorities and customers to obtain essential facts and information required to complete assigned tasks.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

• Experience in related commercial/military aircraft modification field.

• Possess project/analytical management skills and ability to multi-task.

• The candidate should already understand structural compliance methods for the substantiation of interior products.

• Ability to be self-motivated and meet deadlines with little supervision.

• Knowledge of aircraft secondary structure changes to accommodate new seating, interior components e.g carpets, curtains, galleys, Lavs, partitions, monuments, floor and ceiling structures, etc.

• Expert in the use Nastran/Patran is a plus.

• Ability to do “Hand Calculations” as validation is a plus.

• Experience with primary structures a plus.

• Ability to travel for mentoring and/or customer interface, sometimes at short notice.
