ABOUT THE ROLE


Job Purpose:


The design, implementation and management of an effective Air Safety Management System (ASMS) to meet UK MAA, foreign military customer and EASA & CAA regulations on behalf of the aviation operation Accountable Manager [currently the Marshall CEO] through the Head of Safety, encompassing:
Preparation and upkeep of the Marshall ADG Air Safety Management Plan including update of the
Marshall Safety Hub information, as required.
Assurance to the Accountable Manager that air safety risks have been identified and mitigated to the agreed required levels, primarily in terms of Risk to Life, providing periodic updates to Head of Safety and the Chief Test Pilot, with periodic briefings to the aviation Accountable Manager via Head of Safety.
Manage and administrate the periodic Marshall Flight Test Safety Action Group Meeting and prepare safety related material for the Safety Review Board and other air safety meetings.
Compile and manage the air safety risk register, ensuring inputs and evaluations from relevant stakeholders.
Ensure that all air safety occurrences and / or hazards are reported, investigated and closed using the Marshall Safety Matters Report It system and other regulatory systems as required, including the UK MAAs ASIMS.

Key Tasks:


a. Managing the air safety management system and air safety management plan.
b. Collect, analyse and report air safety information.
c. Monitor and assure air safety reporting on internal system and external regulator systems.
d. Monitor and evaluate information / results from MSAFE Investigations related to air safety or any safety related survey work.
e. Ensure risk assessments are completed where required.
f. Manage the Emergency Response Plan and be involved actively in practises.
g. Monitor the aviation industry for safety concerns and trends that could be applicable to Marshall.
h. Ensure safety related information, such as organisational goals and objectives for safety, is made available to members of the Flight Test team and be part of the core safety team.

Key Skills / Competencies:


Ability to engage at all levels of an organisation - verbally and written.
Willingness to appreciate flight safety as part of a total safety approach in a diverse organisation.
To act as part of a team and on occasion to lead on risk decisions.
A willingness to learn the broader aspects of safety - including occupational and product safety.

Experience:


Understanding of Safety Management Systems.
Held a safety post for at least 18 months.
Understanding of CAA and MAA regulations associated with flying activities.
Experience of flight test programmes is desirable but not essential.
Trained event investigator is desirable but not essential as training available.

Education/Qualifications:


The following would be ideal, but candidates without this training will also be considered and training provided.
